How do i creat a recent comment sidebar for my blog where readers would view a few words from the most recent comments posted on the blog on the right hand side . I went to appearance, widget , plug in and downloaded a recent comment plug in and saved the folder to my hard drive. Now how do i paste or maybe a better word is how do i paste it into a folder in my blog if thats what needs to be done so the recent comment link will appear on my blog. Several people have responded but they are not helping me by posting a widget link. Where do i paste the html link on my blog? Is it a folder i paste it to? Im downloading and activating plugs in's but no recent comments are appearing on my blog . PLease explain step by step thank you

Posted 1 year ago #No good. i downloaded the zip file but did not open it. Uploaded it to plug in directory. Tried to activate it and error message came up "cannot upload file because of fatal error

did you try and install from with in admin as I did not have problem installing within admin.

Posted 1 year ago #I got a bunch of stuff on the left hand side. dashboard, media, link, widgets , plug in tools, etc etc which one do i click on to get to administrator page ?

Posted 1 year ago #Oh i see what your saying did i log in as the admin? Yes i did . I have a user name and password . Logged in with the user name and tried installing under upload new plug in link on left hand side did not work

click on plugin
click Add New
in the search bar enter the plug in name recent comments with gravatar and click on search
its the first one clcik on install
once installed click on activate.than to add to side bar click widgets
you will one them on left drag it and put in side bar on right and configure it the way it. -

Posted 1 year ago #didnt realize what might be causing the problem. Apparantly the recent comments with gravatar is installed somewhere because when the activate button says "installed" after i searched through plugins When i go to widget it says NO Sidebars defined. I am using almost spring 1.1 as the theme and its not widget aware. It then tells me to click a link that says follow instructions. When i click that it gives me a bunch of HTML codes. I have no idea which one to use or if these are just examples and not made to copy paste into a folder.

If you have a text widget in widgets use that and paste html code in that widget.

Posted 1 year ago #There are over 1000 widgets on the widget page very complicated. Which one do i copy and where do i paste it ? I dont know what you mean by pasting a code into a widget. I had no idea i would have to go through this much complicated aggravation just to install a recent comment sidebar on my blog

There are thousands of themes as well and it very hard to know how your theme is designed I looked for it repository and did not see it.

This is my blog i am a competitive eater and my blog focus on the sport . There is also another blog called eatfeats.com which has a layout similar to mine and uses the recent comments on the right hand side. Check both out and let me know what you think

As I said if I could find that theme I can install on my test test and see why you having problem adding comments widget

I am using almost spring 1.1 as the theme and its not widget aware.
Then you need to make it widget aware. See Widgetizing_Themes.

Most of the themes in the Theme Directory are widget aware. Try using the theme tag filter to find the kind of them you're looking for and then try some of them. Especially ones that have been updated in the past 6 - 12 months. That's always a good sign..

Posted 1 year ago #i want to keep almost autumn for a reason which i cant get into for now but it has something to do with the blog eatfeats.com i told you about. I think he has the same theme but modified it .
