   I have a wordpress blog just installed at MediaTemple, however, it does not come with any of the default sidebar widgets that are available by default on wordpress.com's free blogs interface.

   Can someone tell me if it's possible to get those default sidebar widgets in a package or even where I can find them individually?

   I need...

   Widgets don't come with the host.
   They can work if the theme of your blog is... "widgetized" = prepared to work with the widgets.
   Then you need the widgets plugin:

   And see the available widgets here:
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/WordPress_Widgets
   (and a lot of those were announced here in the forum posts)
