   When I use "the_excerpt()" for stories that don't have an existing pre-written excerpt, each excerpt ends with [...] -- is there a way to change this?

   Is there a way to get the excerpt to pull just the first sentence?

   Try some plugins for dealing with excerpts - I believe there are a few for customization of output.
