Comment Like Formatting for Search Results

    In the default WordPress theme, the comments use some conditional formatting to display every comment with an odd post_id.

    I have played with applying this same strategy to a basic search results page, but haven’t had any luck. When I search now, I get some PHP errors.

    I searched around a bit for conditional formatting, but only found the admin formatting plugin for comments.

    Are there similar plugins for search results, or if there are none, what would be the proper structure for applying the same feature to search results?
