Registration, new user never receives password

I am allowing registration. On completing the registration form with a username and password, the user is advised that a password will be emailed. In my administrator’s email inbox, I receive the new user notice. However, the new user never receives their password email.

I’d appreciate any advice on how to get this feature working.
