Event is announced in eventlist and attatched to a category

The Event Calendar is simple, yet easy to use. I have two suggestions to make this plugin even better.
1. It would be nice if an upcoming event is put into an ‘event to come’ list where the moment of its first announcement is defined by the user in number of days. Number of days before the actual event takes place.
2. It would be nice if the calendar event can be coupled to a category. This can be a very nice feature for a school for example. An event is placed in the calendar (schooltrip for 2nd class) and 4 days before the actual event -the trip- the announcement is made in the news-list and added to the ‘2nd class category’ list.

I am not a skilled programmer myself, but having these features added would be awsome.
