• This isn’t a major problem but I’m wondering why when I go to view the archives and categories that the longer entries show this […] instead of showing the whole post. Is there a way I can make it show the whole entry? My wordpress site is located at http://thickgirl.net

Thanks for any help you can give a wordpress virgin.

  • In your archive.php template replace the_excerpt with the_content. (A quick search would have shown you this was answered a zillion times…)

Your archives are probably using the_excerpt() instead of the_content().

Thanks for the help and sorry for not searching the forum before I asked a question, I just wasn’t sure exactly what term to search for. It happens.

Absolutely, thickgirl: it can be very hard to search when you’re not sure of the search terms.

To anyone else reading this thread: be sure to try a few different search terms when you’re looking for an answer. By now, the vast majority of template, theme, and installation problems have been answered; so chances are you can help yourself by searching in the same amonut of time it takes to post and wait for a reply.

If you search, search for variations on your problem. thickgirl could have searched for “ellipse”, “read more”, “archive”, and “excerpt”. Of course, if you don’t know that WordPress calls it an “excerpt”, it might take you a little longer to search.
