Would you mind posting the name of your host if it's cheap, in the USA, and you're happy with it. I'm thinking of switching hosts and am having a really hard time deciding which hosts to consider. Thank you in advance.

I've been on the Gold plan at www.adthosting.com for over a year with no problems.
They also have a Bronze plan for $4.95/month or $49.50/year w/ 2 gig transfer, 50mb space, php, 2 mysql databases and cPanel w/ phpmyadmin. I'd *never* go back to a host that didn't have cPanel.
www.webhostingtalk.com is a good place to get feedback and opinions on hosts.
http://www.jodohost.com is quite good too, gives you different levels of service, and your choice of Windows/Linux and MySQL/MSSQL.
TG
I am using http://www.ixwebhosting.com and have very few complaints. I would recommend them as well.
http://www.ipowerweb.com
800Mb space
40gigs transfer
and lots of goodies.
$7.95 a month (12months)
http://www.aksinfo.com/
USD 50 a year
25 megs space
1 Gig data transfer montly
cpanel backend
good enough for a small blog. that's what i have.
http://deafening-urge.net works great for me. They have a whole plethora of plans, and there support is pretty nice. All issues I have had have been resolved within a day.
xtool - how is the service with ipowerweb? I'm thinking about moving to them after my free contract with 1&1 is up.
TG
TG - ipowerweb does not allow ssh access. I used them for a couple of commercial websites I created.
For the same price, you get all the goodies ipowerweb offers, plus ssh access, and more mysql databases, at serverfly.com.
The previous person was me! :) TG - I think serverfly.com is one of the few hosts that provide WordPress, and 56 other scripts with every package. WP is getting noticed :)
Yeah, serverfly looks like a good one. I just emailed them to ask them a few questions. I wanted to find out if wordpress installation was included in the monthly (well prepay annual) fee or not. Do you know if they give you a discount if you refer someone? If they do let me know. I'll tell them your name or domain if I sign up with them.
I don't have an account with them yet :P
Maybe I can tell them to give you some credit when I sign up in May, after you do :) (But I have to know who Anonymous is, first)
:)
Hi i am looking for a hosting company who can offer me MSSQL hostiong Idealy i want to spend$5.00/month.i tried cdxsolutions.com but their support is not good. They dont reply or dont inform when they have any problems.i will appriciate if any one can help me to introduce a new hosting company in USA or UK. Thanks
How about some free hosting (at least for a year). Media3.net https://support.media3.net/order/whyfree.cfm>click here for the details
http://www.austindev.com/
$8/month isn't the cheapest around, but I can vouch for the quality of service.
i used http://dr2.net
you can check http://ace-host.net (they reply to customer service, but you should check first how many MySQL databases they allow...when I first signed up I only got one so I cancelled, it may have changed) i think they have decent specials
I decided to go with www.icdsoft.com
And 2fargone was entirely right...they have fast and helpful tech support. I had a question about MySQL database and within 3 minutes of submitting the help request, I had an accurate response. I've never seen such fast customer service.
I just signed up with http://siteground.com. $4 / month, no setup fee. CPanel backend, 5 mySQL databases, unlimited e-mail, etc. etc. Used a credit card, and they might do PayPal, too?
I get a referral bonus, so let me know if you're thinking about using them.
My host is UK based but it seems really fine to me and very good value.
Twenty pounds a year (30 dollars) per domain gives you everything we WPers need and more. Credit cards accepted. Live chat for queries. And a whole stack of stuff including 6 gig bandwidth in the standard fee. Their informative web site is here: Here.
Upgraded site stats are on their way apparently. It does not make any difference where you live. I host mission critical corporates in the US but I wanted to try a
local mom and pop operation; being a brit personal blog. They seem fine. I used Gandi.net for my domain and they are very very cool. By far the best I have ever encountered.
(Beginners Tip: Keep your domain registration-separate from the host. It is easier to admin, gives wider choice and hassle free if you need to move) HTH
I second the vote for Web-mania.
I'm using http://www.creationstorm.com and they just rock at speed and service and stuff. 250 mb, 5 GB traffic. All for a few bucks a month.
BTW, for obvious reasons I don't think anonymous replies on this thread are a good idea since it's showing up on some search engines, and anonymous replies or users who register just to post on this thread will be deleted.
I'm using AceNet Inc.. I have their Special Offer:
They've been great...haven't had any trouble.
@antifuse: are you actually hosted on bloghosts now?
I'm considering a switch...
Been hosting a WP blog with geekhosting.com for a few months now. I compared lots of different plans and they offered a good deal.
So far everything works, downtime only happened once
(but lasted over 1 hr), BUT support seems nonexistent - it's been more than a week.
Although I've found the answer by myself, I worry about the day I might really need some support...
Thanks all for the useful thread, a lot of hosting forums seem to be stuffed full of rave reviews that I don't know whether to trust or not.
