Custom header image upload failure

Every time I try to change the image on my custom header with an image from my hard drive, I get the following message:

Unable to create directory /home/tarnet/domains/tarotrede.net/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

What am I overlooking? Thanks in advance!
