Newly created pages show up as ‘not found’

Ok, I’m using wordpress version 2.6.2 (yes, I know I need to update).

I’ve never created pages before because I never needed them. Now for the first time I do need them but there’s a problem – when I create a page and click to view it, wordpress tells me it is ‘not found’.

The page appears as a new tab in the blog and everything, but clicking it just says ‘not found’.

I’ve see on some other post with a similar problem someone suggested it might be a problem with slugs and .htaccess file, but the slugs work perfectly fine on all regular posts – this is only specific to pages.

Please help me… what could be causing this? And more importantly, how do I fix this?
