• I was wondering if any of you had any experience running a podcast with WordPress. My current podcast is on a simple site and a manually generated RSS feed but I don’t think it is compatible with iTunes ’cause all the iTunes specific tags iTunes requires for its feeds =/

Since I am comfortable with WordPress I found it has not 1 but 3 excellent podcasting plugins PodPress, PowerPress, and Podcasting. I tried 2 of them out and they both seem equally good. All they seem can generate iTunes compatible RSS feeds automatically.

Any of you run a WordPress based podcast and maybe have any particular recommendations or preferances?

  • Both Podpress and Powerpress work pretty great. I used Podpress forever, but then one day with a wordpress upgrade it broke. That affected a lot of users and the developer didn’t get it updated in a timely manner. No blame there, I’m sure he was very busy. I’d been using blubrry.com for some time just to track my stats for music downloads, so when they released Powerpress I tried it out, and I’m sticking with it. I really do like the plugin, plus it has great support and it’s frequently updated. I changed out music players fopr something a little more customizeable, but yeah, I’m sticking with powerpress
