it’s the wp-admininstall.php file. when I copy it and paste it into the web browser it comes up as a broken link that doesn’t work.
are you going to: wp-admininstall.php or wp-admin/install.php ?
sorry, yes it’s wp-admin/install.php
Are you sure all the files are uploaded to the correct place on the server and that you have the correct path in the URL to the file?
I’m not sure if they are uploaded correctly. They do appear on the server host
Hello! =)
I got probably the same problem. I uploaded all files and edited the config.php, but when I try to open the */wp-admin/install.php I get a 404 error. Is it possible that this is a problem with the hosting service? I use 1$1, but I also saw several other pages that use WordPress on there and it work apparently for them.
I hope anyone is able to help.
A hearty Thank You in advance.
I cannot say for sure what the issue could be. The only times it has not worked for me it turned out that I made a mistake and had either uploaded the files incorrectly or I was browsing to the wrong path to the file.
So make sure that the files are all there, then make sure that the path to the install file is correct:
http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/install.php
Or if you installed it in a sub directory then make sure to account for that
http://yourdomain.com/wordpress-directory/wp-admin/install.php
OK, I’m so new at this. I just realised that I did the auto-install from the hosting site which is blackapplehost.com.
The only real problem I have is actually opening wordpress, how do you open wordpress?
I did get the free wordpress version to start, do I need to disable that version before I can access the other one?
Do I open wordpress from wordpress.com or from blackapplehost.com?
