I noticed that on WP 2.7.1 any theme name with "-" don't show in preview.
It must be a bug... any thoughts about it?

I'm going to revive this thread and say that I have also experienced similar problems with the theme previewer, though the problem in my case appears to be isolated to Firefox? And perhaps Firefox 2.X?

The theme works dandily if you activate it, but yes, the theme preview option just won't display a darned thing for some themes.

I am hosting 2 blogs that are both running 2.7.1 with the same themes on them. One of them previews and activates the themes just fine, the other won't preview or activate a theme. Any thoughts?

I was having the same problem as you iairv.

I discovered that it was a problem with the folder permissions. So I went onto the ftp server and checked which permissions were checked with the classic and default themes and applied that to the new theme.

To see the permissions, right click on the theme folder (in ftp) and click info. A box will appear that checks off read/write options.

    Hope that helps you too.

Oh, I also had to go to the image folder within the theme folder and change the permissions on that as well because the images weren't showing up.

I am also experiencing this problem. I've changed the permissions but that did not work. In fact, the default and classic are not showing an image either.

Wendy.. thanks for the help. All of the permissions are set at 0755 for the "theme" folder and all of the contents. I can't even get classic and default to work. They still don't preview or activate and my site is blank.
