Automatic Upgrade failed and now I cannot delete files on server

    I tried upgrading from 2.7 to 2.7.1 using the upgrade button in the tools section. The upgrade failed because it could not write the wpconfig_sample.php. I decided to upgrade manually and now the files on my server are not allowing me to delete or overwrite due to a permissions error. Any ideas on how I can proceed.

    every time the file permissions got mixed and I couldn’t change it anymore, the only solution has been to ask my host to manually perform the operation.

    Try right clicking the folder in your ftp program and changing the permissions there, to 0755.
