New user installation help please

I have tried everything to get this puppy up and running and this is the ERROR Message I keep recieving.

Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the wordpress database.

Now my database is there I am staring at it now DB name is “WordPress” I have even tried “username_wordpress” to no avail.

However there is no tables in my DB I am assuming because I cant get it installed is the reason for that though.

Am I missing something, do I have to CHMOD a files permissions….if so what are wordpress’ permissions code.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated….I have been told that this is thee program I want to use for my blog site.
