Page Description Isn’t Showing Up (WP 2.7)

I’m fairly new to wordpress, so this is probably a basic problem so if anyone would care to enlighten me with your WP knowledge that would be amazing!

problem: I’ve created several pages. Gave them titles and under the title there is a box which I assume is a page description.
here is an example: games

continued: this is what i want the problem is when I add posts which i assume are linking to these pages the heading/description disappears
here is an example: music
it use to have the heading music followed by a description

if you could give me any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it!
