I don't quite understand what you mean, but here goes:
How to Install WordPress, you'll find
- 5 minute WordPress Install
- How to Install WordPress to subdirectory - if you already have a website in root/main directory
- How to Install WordPress to root directory
ok this is a funny question but here i go,
well if you have installed wordpress already and you have logged in and seen the admin side than welcome to wordpress
if you have not done so, than please install wordpress first
http://codex.wordpress.org/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start
wordpress has a admin backend and a public front end
on the public side your posts links, comments, and much more is presented,
the term blog is very complicated, it depends how how set up wordpress - theme and plugins wise - and how you use them
please answer few questions - how will you use the site, what are you planning to "blog" about
and please explain how is your "blog" setup with your hosting company
hi
I signed up for 1 and 1 and they gave me a blog
they emailed me
We have checked on your 1and1 blog in our end and it is just up and
running, only that it is assigned to the subdomain
*********.websitehome.co.uk.
With your concern, we regret to inform you that you can not anymore
modify the domain destination of 1and1 blog once it is sucessfully set
up or assigned to a domain or subdomain.
When you create a 1and1 blog, make sure you have a domain or subdomain
that you'll be assigning first.
We can advice you to copy all of the contents(texts, links) in your
created 1and1 blog, paste it to your local computer folders, create
another blog and integrate the contents

I have no idea what they are trying to say. I am not very computer literate. What I want is for people to see my blog when they visit my website. At the moment it seems that my blog and website are 2 different entities.
Have just read the 5 minute install and I have no idea what most of it is about. Anyone explain it to me simply so my blog can be on my website please?? Hoiw do I upload the unzipped WP directory into the root directory of my web server, sorry if I appear dumb
If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain (e.g. http://example.com/), move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.
If you want to have your WordPress installation in its own subdirectory on your web site (e.g. http://example.com/blog/), rename the directory wordpress to the name you'd like the subdirectory to have and move or upload it to your web server. For example if you want the WordPress installation in a subdirectory called "blog", you should rename the directory called "wordpress" to "blog" and upload it to the root directory of your web server.
@jakeb: your webhost set up your blog on your subdomain not in main domain root for some reason but does not specify what kind of blog it was - WordPress, Serendipity, so many kinds, and not all have the 5-minute install
Why they chose to install in subdomain (with caveat that you cannot modify domain destination is a mystery unless you chose that feature.
subdomain: http://subdomain.websitehome.co.uk NOT
domain: http://www.websitehome.co.uk
Do clarify whether they installed your blog at the root of your subdomain or in a subirectory of your subdomain
http://subdomain.websitehome.co.uk/ or
http://subdomain.websitehome.co.uk/blogfolder/
If you have access to your site's FTP, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, then you can install WordPress in the root of your main directory - http://www.websitehome.co.uk - which you seem to prefer.
You have to communicate this to your webhost. Good luck.
