For reasons unknown to me Wordpress is failing to load on my hosting server. A brand new install results in the same problem. The page seems to take a very long time to load and sometimes does not load at all.
On the same hosting server I had a problem with a different PHP application acting in very much the same way. The problem turned out to be that the software was attempting to check for an update every time a web page was loaded.
I was wondering if wordpress or any of its default mods may be trying to do something similar. Possibly connecting to a website for an RSS feed, update check or something of that nature?
The software previously worked fine but it appears some security was applied to the server that appears to be causing file open operations to take an extremely long time and then eventually time out.
