Change password for ‘admin’ account member?

    Hi,
    Once I have a clean install, I want to change the auto generated password for the admin, but I find no way to do that.
    Ideally, I’d like to remove admin altogether and specify my own top level member, but I can’t seem to do that either – any help is appreciated.

    Login as the ADMIN account, click on the PROFILE tab on top and then change the password there.
    The Admin account is created during installation and cannot be changed after that. When I installed WP on my webhost using Fantastico, it asked me what username to use as the Admin account, so it is clearly something you can modify. But I’m uncertain as to how.

    Using that guide, you should be able to change the account name from ‘admin’, and you can certainly change the password too.
    Remember that the auto-generated password is secure due to it’s randomness – don’t pick a password that someone could easily guess – and don’t underestimate the word ‘easily’ 🙂

    Thanks, I changed it under profile – for some reason I assumed it would be editable under ‘users’ but it isn’t. Kinda goofy but kinda makes sense. Thanks!
