   Well it's been a fun night of ERRORS.

   I created some WP sites using our new hosting provider over at hostgator.

   I was getting errors like 'Cheatin uh?' when i tried to update my rss feeds. Now I'm getting Wordpress database errors.

   I originally thought it was a server side issue but when i created a WP site with one of our domains over at bluehost.com and over at dreamhost.com, I am getting the same errors.

   feedwordpress is the problem here and nothing more nothing less.

   If I'm wrong I apologize if I sound hasty but this has been a frustrating night of spending a lot of time without getting any positive results

   here's the error i'm getting...it mentions server side...which can't be the case since i've tested this with all 3 of my hosting providers....

   update-feeds: make FeedWordPress check for new syndicated content

   WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE cat_name='Contributors'' at line 2]

   not a bug in wordpress. maybe a bug in feedwordpress. more likely your new host is using a mysql version that is not feedwordpress friendly.

   so your saying dreamhost, bluehost and hostgator hosting providers are all not up to par with the mysql version that's not feedwordpress friendly???

   that makes no sense. how many of you tried or had to opportunity to test building WP on 3 different hosting companies?

   i'm getting the same errors. find me proof instead of speculating that this could be a problem.

   Regardless, feedwordpress could very well be the issue here and it would be nice if someone looked into it.

   Since this isn't a WordPress issue, wouldn't you be better off taking it up with the author?

   Good point but you'd think WP would deal with this being that there only source for syndicating feeds is feedwordpress which happens to be the problem.

   I wouldn't think that at all. Why would WP deal with something they have no control over? It's Charles' project and just like all other plugins it is the author who is responsible. Lots of people write plugins, some of which are great, while others aren't - Just because there is only one of a particular type of plugin it doesn't suddenly make it WPs responsibility.

   That's not true, either.

   WordPress comes with it's own feed by default. It doesn't depend on feedwordpress. There's more than one way to skin a cat. If the plugin isn't working for you, find another one.

   But in the meantime - as everyone else said - it's the plugin author's issue - not a WordPress issue.

   FeedWordpress doesn't "syndicate" feeds. It aggregates them. That is, it rips them off other sites and turns them into posts. That's fine if your site is an aggregation site, but for most people, that's not what they want to use Wordpress for. I'd be hard pressed to think of a legitimate (i.e. non-spammy) reason to use FeedWordpress, myself.

   That's not to say that there aren't any, but still, the whole point of FeedWordpress is to take posts from other sites and post them to your own database as if they were your own posts. Kinda weak, IMO. I can think of better ways to make aggregation sites. Heck, you could do a really nice aggregation site with with 30 lines of PHP and a Yahoo Pipe.

   Wordpress does syndication (as in making its posts available to others via feeds) without any plugins whatsoever. Wordpress also has built-in functionality to read feeds from other sites and display parts of them, again without any plugins whatsoever.

   I've installed Wordpress on sites run by at least 10-15 different hosting companies. Never had a problem. Of course, I've never used FeedWordpress either.
