Static page issue with 2.1

Hi – hopefully what I want to do is fairly simple, but beyond me currently – I’m a bit of a newbie to WP.

All I want to do is to build a replica of my normal blog page, but with a static content. I’m using Blix as the theme, so there are two columns generally – the left hand for blog content, the right hand for links etc.

What I want is some static copy & images on the left, but retain the links/loop structure on the right.

If I create a static page and have it load up as default, it’s a single column. I’ve modified the code so that it’s now two columns, but that’s where I’ve got stuck – generally because it seems like there should be an easier way.

Is there?

Any help appreciated.
