• I’m using WordPress 2.1.2, and I just did a fresh install on a host that’s new to me.

The visual rich editor (is it still tinyMCE?) is not working — whenever I go to “write” or “manage” my pages, I can only edit in html.

Big problem! My client, for whom I set up the site, needs to use the visual rich editor.

I wonder if there’s a permissions problem or something similar; would appreciate any troubleshooting advice. Thanks!

  • Well a search would’ve turned this up.

Visit Users -> Your Profile. Check that top checkbox to turn on the visual rich editor. 🙂

handysolo, you’re right, I feel like queen of the dimwits at the moment.

Thanks for the assist, you were right and changing my user profile fixed it; not sure why I couldn’t see that option in the first place.

Now, off to find some coffee!

the suggestion didn’t correct my problem, however. I changed my adminitrator status to editor, and I made sure ‘visual editor’ box was check, several time, and nothing has changed.
