Network Rail
Network Rail owns and operates railway infrastructure across England, Wales, and Scotland. It manages rail timetables and works with partners across the United Kingdom to help deliver 4.5 million journeys each day. Its website serves a wide range of people, including passengers, local communities, business partners, suppliers, employees, and job seekers. Alongside news about major upgrades, it provides details of weekend work, safety guidance, corporate reports, and information about Network Rail’s community and sustainability programs.
Network Rail worked with Wholegrain Digital to rebuild the site in WordPress during one of the most ambitious upgrades in the railway’s history. User experience sessions identified the site’s main audiences and what each group needed to find, shaping a custom design and theme with clearer paths through a large collection of public information. WordPress brings these different needs together in one publishing system, allowing Network Rail to share timely project updates while maintaining detailed operational, engineering, and public-service content.
