Installation

Install the plugin from the WordPress plugin directory, or upload the wakonect-chat folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
Activate the plugin.
Go to Settings WaKonect Chat.
Enter your email address and click Connect — a free account is created instantly.
Go to the AI Settings tab, enter your Groq API key, add your website URL, and click Fetch Website Info.
Click Save Settings — your AI chat widget is now live.

The whole setup takes under 5 minutes.

FAQ

Do I need a WaKonect account?: Yes — a free account is created automatically when you enter your email and click Connect. No credit card required.
Where do I get a Groq API key?: Go to console.groq.com/keys, sign up for free, and create an API key. Groq’s free tier is sufficient for most small businesses.
What happens if I don’t add a Groq API key?: The chat widget still works — visitors can chat and leave their details. Without a key, AI auto-replies are disabled and you reply manually from the inbox.
Where do I read and reply to conversations?: All conversations appear in your WaKonect inbox at chat.wakonect.com. The plugin shows a “Manage Chat Inbox” button that logs you in automatically.
Is the AI trained on my website?: Yes. In the AI Settings tab, enter your website URL and click “Fetch Website Info”. The plugin scans your homepage and key pages and uses that content to train the AI.
Can I customise what the AI knows about my business?: Yes. After fetching your website, you can edit the Business Information text freely — add pricing, FAQs, services, location, anything you want the AI to know.
Will the AI answer questions it doesn’t know?: The AI is instructed to say “someone will follow up shortly” rather than guessing when it’s not confident. You’ll see the conversation in your inbox and can reply manually.
Does this work with WooCommerce?: Yes — the widget loads on WooCommerce pages. WooCommerce-specific features (product cards, cart recovery) are available in WaKonect Chat Pro.
Is my data secure?: Conversations are stored on WaKonect servers. Your Groq API key is stored in your WordPress database and sent to your WaKonect account for AI processing. See our privacy policy at wakonect.com/privacy.
