Processing is done on our servers, so you don’t have to worry about it. You can focus on what you do best – selling books.

Usage

Create products using WooCommerce UI, set it to Downloadable and in Downloadable files use shortcode [miguel id="<book id>" format="<book format>"] to set File URL. For example [miguel id="book-id" format="epub"]. Create multiple downloadable files for each format that you want to provide. ID is the ID of the book in Miguel system.

Currently supported formats are: epub, mobi, pdf and audio.

FAQ

How does the delivery of audiobooks work?

Miguel also allows you to send out audiobooks to the customers. The zipped MP3 leave from a secure link, so there is no mass distribution of a public link, which could result in illegal downloads. Audio files are also protected by watermark embedded in audio itself.

What formats can be used?

The MOBI and PDF formats are automatically converted from the supplied ePUB. The system also automatically checks the validity of the ePUB. Miguel supports the most commonly used MP3 format for audiobooks.

How do we transfer our e-books and audiobooks to Miguel?

Uploading e-book files to Miguel is similar to what you’re used to with other sellers. The latest uploaded version of the e-book is always the current version.

What does the “customizable” PDF mean?

The interactive wizard allows you to set the screen size for which the resulting PDF is generated. Then you can set the font size, font type and you are able to turn on margins for notes.

1.6.0

1.7.0

1.8.0

  • Added an API endpoint for retrieving a single order including its line items, totals and addresses
  • Added currency to delivery methods and now read their title and description from the method settings
  • Orders created from Miguel are no longer reported back as new orders
  • Fixed duplicate line items for products offered in multiple formats
  • Now requires WooCommerce 6.0 or newer

1.9.0

  • Added support for selling printed books through Miguel: a non-downloadable product’s Miguel product code is derived from its SKU plus a configurable suffix, keeping it distinct from the e-book edition that shares the same slug
  • Added the “Printed-book code suffix” setting (WooCommerce Settings Miguel); leave empty to disable printed-book pairing
  • Added optional per-product _miguel_code meta to override a product’s Miguel code

1.9.1

  • Delivery methods endpoint now reports a cost for carriers that keep their pricing in their own plugin settings instead of WooCommerce (e.g. Toret Balíkovna)

1.10.0

  • Raised the minimum supported versions to WooCommerce 7.9, WordPress 6.5 and PHP 8.1
  • Orders are marked paid on shops whose payment gateway keeps orders in its own status. Judging that by status instead made the shop report a failure while the payment had in fact completed, and Miguel then retried it every minute, re-sending the gateway’s payment mail each time
  • A shop that declines to complete a payment says so in its reply instead of reporting an error, so Miguel records it and stops retrying
  • Added the “Statuses that remove the order from Miguel” setting (WooCommerce Settings Miguel), defaulting to Refunded, Cancelled and Failed as before
  • Fixed orders that had been removed from Miguel coming back on the next sync, which gave the customer access again
  • Added automatic order status change when Miguel finishes an order: choose a target status for orders holding only Miguel books and another for orders that also hold other products, in WooCommerce Settings Miguel. Both default to “Do not change status”, so nothing changes until an admin opts in
  • Added POST /orders/{id}/finished, the callback Miguel calls when an order settles
  • Orders created from the Miguel app can carry a private note, visible to the shop only, saying which app they were placed in
  • Orders created by Miguel show “Miguel” as their payment method instead of “Other”. The new Miguel payment gateway is never offered at checkout
  • Orders from Miguel holding only digital formats no longer need a shipping address or shipping lines, and show no placeholder shipping
  • Fixed the plugin’s translations staying in English when another plugin loads payment gateways early
  • A partial refund takes the refunded products out of the order in Miguel, so the customer loses access to what they were refunded for. Compensation short of a whole unit’s price keeps the product in the order Miguel holds. Deleting a partial refund puts the product back on the next sync; deleting a full refund does not, since WooCommerce leaves the order in the “refunded” status. Applies to refunds made before this version too, the next time such an order syncs
