IDPeek – Show Post, Page & User ID

Description

WordPress does not show IDs anywhere in the admin by default, even though developers, theme builders, and site admins need them constantly for shortcodes, custom code, and page builders.

IDPeek adds a simple “ID” column to every admin list table:

  • Posts
  • Pages
  • Media
  • Custom post types (Products, Portfolios, etc.)
  • Categories, Tags, and custom taxonomies
  • Users
  • Comments

No configuration. No settings page. Activate and the ID column appears everywhere automatically.

Why use this plugin

  • Zero setup, zero settings page
  • Lightweight, adds no database queries beyond what WordPress already loads
  • Works with any custom post type or taxonomy automatically
  • Safe: read-only, does not modify any of your content or data

Installation

  1. Upload the idpeek folder to /wp-content/plugins/, or install directly through the Plugins screen in WordPress.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen.
  3. Visit any Posts, Pages, Users, or Categories screen. The ID column appears automatically.

FAQ

Does this work with custom post types?

Yes. It automatically detects every registered post type and taxonomy that has an admin UI, including ones added by other plugins like WooCommerce.

Does this plugin store any data?

No. It only reads existing IDs and displays them. Nothing is written to your database.

Will this slow down my site?

No. It only runs in the admin area and does not affect your site’s front end at all.
