Changeloger – Changelog, Release Notes, Roadmap & Feature Requests

Description

Changeloger is the WordPress changelog plugin for publishing release notes, collecting feature requests, and sharing a public product roadmap β€” all from one plugin.

If you ship a plugin, theme, SaaS app or any product that gets updated, your users keep asking the same three questions: what changed?, what’s coming next?, and will you build the thing I asked for? Changeloger answers all three. Publish a version history your users can actually read, let them submit and vote on feature requests, and show a public roadmap of what you are building β€” without writing a line of code.

Spider Themes Helpdesk (support assistant)

Changeloger admin pages show a chat button that opens the Changeloger documentation assistant hosted on the Spider Themes helpdesk (helpdesk.spider-themes.net), so you can search the docs and ask questions without leaving WordPress.

Nothing is loaded from the helpdesk until you press the chat button. Hovering over the button only opens a network connection to the helpdesk so the chat loads faster; no data is sent. When you open it, the assistant is loaded in an iframe from https://helpdesk.spider-themes.net/iframe-assistant/, and your browser sends the product name (“changeloger”) and the documentation section to show. If you opted in through the Freemius opt-in screen and you are the administrator who opted in, your name and email address are also sent so the support chat is pre-filled. Messages you type in the chat are sent to the helpdesk to be answered.

You can turn the assistant off under Changeloger Settings General Hide Support Chat (or with add_filter( 'changeloger_support_assistant_enabled', '__return_false' );).

Freemius

Changeloger uses the Freemius SDK for licensing, updates of the Pro version and the optional usage-data opt-in. Data is only shared with Freemius if you opt in or activate a license; you can skip the opt-in and the plugin still works.

FAQ

How do I add a changelog page to my WordPress site?

Create a new page, add the Changeloger block (or paste the [changeloger] shortcode), and either paste your changelog text, upload your existing changelog.txt file, or build releases visually in Changeloger Releases. No coding or theme editing is required.

Can I import my existing changelog.txt file?

Yes. Upload a plain text changelog and Changeloger parses it into structured releases with version numbers, dates and change items automatically. Changeloger Pro can also pull a changelog straight from a public URL such as a GitHub raw file and re-check it for new versions.

How do I display release notes for my plugin, theme or SaaS product?

Use the Release Hub block or the [changeloger] shortcode. You get a versioned release notes page with badges (New, Fixed, Updated, Improved), dates, previous/next version navigation and a choice of timeline, stack or compact layouts.

Can I create a public product roadmap in WordPress?

Yes. Changeloger Pro includes a Kanban-style public roadmap with Under Review, Planned, In Progress and Done columns, drag-and-drop status updates, priority levels and optional vote counts β€” all self-hosted on your own site.

Can users submit and vote on feature requests?

Yes. The free version includes a frontend feedback board for feature requests and bug reports (up to 20 items) with categories and status tracking. Pro removes the limit and adds upvoting/downvoting, comment threads, guest or logged-in submissions and Google login.

Does Changeloger email my users when a new version is released?

Yes, in Pro. Visitors subscribe from your changelog with double opt-in, and Changeloger sends a notification email automatically whenever you publish a new release. Sender name, sender address and subject line are customisable with {product} and {version} placeholders.

Does it work without Gutenberg, with page builders and classic themes?

Yes. The [changeloger] shortcode displays releases, feedback, the roadmap or all views on any page or post, so it works with the classic editor and page builders as well as the block editor.

Can I show changelogs for more than one product?

The free version manages one product. Changeloger Pro supports unlimited products, each with its own releases, feedback and roadmap, plus a product filter on the frontend.

Will it match my theme’s design?

Yes. Set a brand colour, create custom badges with your own colours, pick a layout, and control container width per tab. Everything is mobile responsive and inherits your theme’s typography.

Can I use Changeloger for something other than software?

Yes. Anything with versions or updates works β€” documentation updates, policy and terms changes, course content updates, hardware revisions, or a simple “What’s New” page for your service.

Is Changeloger free?

Yes. The free version includes the Gutenberg blocks, the shortcode, the admin release builder, changelog import and a 20-item feedback board. Changeloger Pro adds the public roadmap, unlimited products and feedback, voting, comments, search and filtering, email subscriptions and analytics.

Where can I see a live demo?

A full live demo is available, and the documentation covers every block and setting.

I recently started using the Changeloger plugin and it’s a very useful tool for managing changelogs in WordPress. It helps display plugin or theme changelogs in a clean and well-structured layout instead of plain text. The interface is simple, and the Gutenberg block support makes it very easy to add changelogs anywhere on a page. What I like most is the ability to highlight updates like New, Fixed, and Updated, which makes the release notes much easier for users to read. Overall, it's a lightweight and practical plugin for developers who want to present their update history in a professional way.

This plug-in does exactly what it's supposed to do. It does it easily, with text files, and once you figure out how to set up your own changelog via text, it's SUPER EASY to customize to your website. I had no issues setting up or integrating it. And on top of all that, it is also customizable. You can add your own sections to the changelog and each will allow you to set their colors. And all for free! Fantastic. Worth a Look!

A lot of changelogs relate to github, software uploads, support sw etc. This is different. Quite simply you write in a txt file and this plugin provides a beautiful frontend Change Log og fx your website to visitors and users. In larger communities it becomes tiring to answer the same questions, reg bugs and updates. This changelog saves you all of that. I was extremely pleased to see that this plugin is completely integrated into FSE and has a block. At the time of writing 2 things could use some TLC. 1) Width of version number should be consistent and not adjust to the width of content 0.0.0 wide 1.1.1 narrow. So same width. 2) Version overview should adopt the version name entered, such as oSX Tiger should have this in table of content. Regardless I am pushing this to 5 stars, cause it brilliantly designed and flexible. For people not accustomed to change logs, you need to add sample text to get started in the docs.
