Installation takes about two minutes and there is no AI to configure. Create your free Camille account, copy your Expert ID, paste it into the plugin, and Camille goes live on every page of your site. It is free to try, so you can see the conversations and leads for yourself before you commit to anything.
This plugin is a lightweight connector: it contains no AI itself. It simply loads the hosted Camille chat widget from camille.travel using your Expert ID. All of the chat intelligence, your branding and your trip catalog are managed in your Camille dashboard, so the assistant keeps improving without you ever touching code.

How it works
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Create your free Camille account (a button in the plugin takes you there).
- Paste your Expert ID into the plugin settings and save.
- Done. Camille is live on your site and starts chatting with visitors.
Privacy and external service
This plugin connects your site to Camille, a hosted service provided by Camille (https://www.camille.travel). It is required for the plugin to work: the plugin loads the chat widget script embed.js from https://www.camille.travel and the widget then communicates with Camille’s servers to load your configuration and to power the conversation.
When a visitor opens or uses the chat, information they provide in the conversation (such as messages and any contact details they choose to share) is sent to Camille so it can respond and create leads for you. No data is sent to Camille until the widget loads on the front end, which only happens after you save a valid Expert ID.
On free and standard Camille plans, the chat widget shows a small “Powered by Camille” badge that links to camille.travel. This badge is part of the hosted Camille service and is controlled by your Camille plan, not added by this plugin. Nothing loads on your site until you connect your own Expert ID, and Camille’s white-label plans remove the badge.

Installation
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New and search for “Camille”.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
- You will land on the Camille AI onboarding screen.
- Click “Create your free account” to open camille.travel in a new tab and sign up.
- Copy your Expert ID from your Camille dashboard.
- Paste the Expert ID into the plugin and click Save. Camille is now live.
You can also install manually: upload the camille-ai-chat folder to /wp-content/plugins/, activate it from the Plugins screen, then add your Expert ID under the “Camille AI” menu.

Is it free?

Yes. The plugin is free, and Camille is free to try. You create a free Camille account and connect it in two minutes. Paid plans with higher limits and extra features are optional and are managed on camille.travel, never inside this plugin.

Do I need an account?

Yes. You need a free Camille account to get an Expert ID, which is the value that connects the plugin to your assistant. There is a “Create your free account” button right inside the plugin to make this quick.

How do I get my Expert ID?

Create a free account at camille.travel, set up your assistant, and your Expert ID appears in your Camille dashboard. Copy it, paste it into the plugin settings, and save.

Which sites work?

Any self-hosted WordPress site can run the plugin. Camille is designed for travel and tourism businesses, including tour operators, travel agencies, DMCs, hotels and lodges, but the chat widget works on any theme. (It does not run on WordPress.com sites that do not allow plugins.)

Does it slow down my site?

No meaningful impact. The plugin adds a single asynchronous script tag in the footer. The chat widget loads in the background and never blocks your pages from rendering.

Where does the chat appear?

Camille appears as a chat launcher on the front end of every page of your site once an Expert ID is saved. It never loads in the WordPress admin.

Can I remove it?

Yes. Clear the Expert ID to stop loading the widget, or deactivate and delete the plugin. Deleting the plugin also removes its stored setting.
