Description
Otto is an AI assistant that answers your visitors’ questions about your products, services and orders, at any time of day. It answers from what is on your website and in your catalogue, and when a customer needs a person, it hands the conversation over to you.
This plugin adds Otto to your website without touching your theme. Click Connect to Otto, sign in and choose your company, and you are done. You can also paste the public key from your Otto panel by hand. If you use WooCommerce, the plugin also publishes a product feed that Otto reads your catalogue from.
What the plugin does:
- Connects to your Otto account with one click, no copying of keys.
- Adds the assistant to your whole website.
- Hides it on pages you choose, for example the checkout or the privacy policy.
- Can tell the assistant who is logged in, so it does not have to ask for their name and email.
- Checks the connection to Otto right from your WordPress dashboard.
- With WooCommerce, publishes a product feed with prices and availability for Otto.
- With WooCommerce, customers can put a recommended product in the cart right from the chat.
The plugin stores nothing in your database except its own settings and the product feed, which it caches for an hour. It adds no other scripts or styles to your website.
Otto is a paid service of Otto AI, s. r. o. with a free trial. You need an Otto account, which you can create at ottoai.sk. The settings page of the plugin is in English, Slovak and Czech.
External services
This plugin connects your website to Otto, an AI assistant service run by Otto AI, s. r. o., Slovakia. Without the service the plugin does nothing.
- Chat on your website. When a public key is saved and “Show on the website” is ticked, every public page of your website loads the Otto chat script (
widget.js) from https://ottoai.sk. While a visitor is on your website, the script sends Otto the address and title of the current page and of the pages they visited before on your website, the referring page, the browser language, the type of device and the screen size, so your team can see in the Otto panel who is on the website right now. When the visitor writes in the chat, the script sends Otto their messages with the same details. Photos are sent only when the visitor attaches them, for example to a complaint. Contact details are sent only when the visitor writes them in the chat or, if you tick “Tell the assistant who is logged in”, the name, email and phone of the logged-in customer from their own account. The script also tells Otto anonymously when the chat is shown or opened, and keeps the conversation ID and a visit counter in the browser’s local storage. It sets no cookies. - Connecting to Otto. When you click “Connect to Otto” in Settings, Otto, your browser opens https://ottoai.sk/wordpress-pripojenie with the address of your website, the address in your dashboard to return to, a one-time code that protects the connection, the language of your dashboard and, with the WooCommerce product feed switched on, the address of the feed. After you sign in to Otto and choose your company, Otto sends your browser back with the public key, which the plugin saves. If you also tick loading products there, Otto saves the feed address and starts downloading the feed.
- Connection check. When you click “Check the key” in Settings, Otto, the plugin sends your public key to https://ottoai.sk/api/config and shows you the assistant’s name and language from the answer.
- Product feed. With WooCommerce and “Publish a product feed for Otto” ticked, the plugin publishes the public data of your products (names, descriptions, prices, sales, availability, images, categories and brands) at
/wp-json/otto-chat/v1/feedon your website. Otto downloads this feed to learn your catalogue. The plugin itself does not send it anywhere.

FAQ
-
Where do I find the public key?
-
You do not need to look for it: Connect to Otto fills it in by itself. If you want to paste it by hand, it is in your Otto panel under Settings, Keys. It starts with
pk_. It is not a password: it belongs in the page, and anyone who looks at the source code of your website may see it. -
Does the plugin collect personal data?
-
Not by itself. If you tick “Tell the assistant who is logged in”, the name, email and phone of a logged-in customer from their own account are added to the page. Visitors who are not logged in are not affected. Such pages are deliberately not cached, so the details of one customer never reach another. What visitors write in the chat goes to Otto as described in External services.
-
Will it slow down my website?
-
No. The script loads at the end of the page and asynchronously, so your page does not wait for it.
-
Does it work with WooCommerce?
-
Yes. For a logged-in customer it also uses the phone from their billing details, it can publish a product feed for Otto, and product cards in the chat get an Add to cart button. The button uses the standard WooCommerce add to cart on your own website, so the cart and mini cart update as usual. When a product needs a choice first, for example a size, the button opens the product page instead.
-
How does Otto learn my WooCommerce products?
-
The plugin publishes a product feed in the Google Merchant format. When you click Connect to Otto and leave loading products ticked, Otto sets the feed by itself. You will also find its address in Settings, Otto, under WooCommerce catalogue. It ends with
/wp-json/otto-chat/v1/feed, and you can paste it in the Otto panel under Settings, Catalogue. Otto then refreshes the catalogue on its own.The feed contains published products that are not hidden from the catalogue, each variation separately. Prices are the ones customers see, including sales and how long they last, and every product says whether it is in stock. The finished feed is cached for an hour and built again when you change a product or stock. If you do not want the feed, untick “Publish a product feed for Otto”.
-
How do I switch the assistant off for a while?
-
In Settings, Otto untick “Show on the website”. Your settings stay.
-
Which language does the assistant speak?
-
The one you set in your Otto panel. The plugin settings follow the language of your WordPress dashboard: English, Slovak or Czech.
