Moniliza – Uptime Monitor

Description

Moniliza checks your website from outside your server, around the clock, and alerts you by email when it goes down. This plugin connects your WordPress site to your Moniliza account and shows its status where you already work: the WordPress dashboard.

What you get

  • A one-click “Monitor this site” button. The plugin adds your site address to Moniliza (and does not add it twice).
  • A dashboard widget with your site’s current status (up or down), the time of the last check, uptime over the last 100 checks and recent outages.
  • An optional status dot in the admin bar.
  • A connection test, so you know your API key works.

How it works

  1. Create a free account at moniliza.app.
  2. In Moniliza, open Account > API keys and create a key.
  3. In WordPress, go to Settings > Moniliza, paste the key and click “Monitor this site”.

The plugin does nothing and contacts nobody until you save an API key. The free Moniliza plan includes 10 monitors, email alerts and commercial use. Checks, alerts and your full uptime history live on moniliza.app.

Alert channels depend on your Moniliza plan

The plugin works the same on every Moniliza plan and does not lock anything. Which alerts Moniliza sends is decided by your plan on moniliza.app: the Free plan sends email alerts; the Pro and Premium plans add Telegram, Slack and Discord alerts. See moniliza.app/pricing for current plans.

Moniliza is a separate service. See the “External services” section below for exactly what data this plugin sends.

External services

This plugin connects to the Moniliza service at https://moniliza.app to create and read uptime monitors for your site. A Moniliza account and API key are required. The plugin does not contact Moniliza until you save an API key.

What is sent and when

  • When you click “Test connection”: a request to https://moniliza.app/api/v1/account with your API key. Moniliza answers with your plan name and monitor counts, which are shown on the settings screen.
  • When you click “Monitor this site”: a request to https://moniliza.app/api/v1/monitors to list your monitors, and, if your site is not in the list, a request that sends your site address (the WordPress home URL) to create a monitor. Moniliza then requests that public address regularly to check that it responds. This is the purpose of the service.
  • While an administrator views the WordPress dashboard (or any admin page when the optional admin bar dot is on): a request to https://moniliza.app/api/v1/monitors/{id} with your API key to read the monitor’s status, last check time, uptime and recent checks. The answer is cached for five minutes, so there is at most one such request every five minutes.

Every request includes your API key in an Authorization header and a User-Agent that names the plugin and its version. No data about your visitors, users, posts or settings is sent.

This service is provided by Moniliza Technologies: Terms of service, Privacy policy.

FAQ

Do I need a Moniliza account?

Yes. Moniliza is the service that checks your site. A free account is enough to monitor your site and get email alerts. Create one at https://moniliza.app/register.

Which alert channels do I get?

That depends on your Moniliza plan, not on this plugin. Free: email alerts. Pro and Premium: email plus Telegram, Slack and Discord alerts. You set up channels in your Moniliza account, not in WordPress.

Does the plugin send data before I set it up?

No. The plugin makes no requests to moniliza.app until an administrator saves an API key.

What exactly is sent to Moniliza?

Your API key with every request, and your site address (the WordPress “home” URL) when you click “Monitor this site”. No visitor, user or content data is sent. See “External services” below.

How often does the widget contact Moniliza?

At most once every five minutes, and only while an administrator has a WordPress admin page open. The result is cached in a transient.

How do I stop monitoring?

Click “Remove API key” under Settings > Moniliza. To also stop the checks, delete the monitor in your Moniliza dashboard. Uninstalling the plugin removes its settings and cached data from WordPress.

Where is my API key stored?

In the WordPress options table, like other plugin settings. It is never printed in full on screen. You can revoke a key at any time under Account > API keys on moniliza.app.

My site is on localhost. Can I monitor it?

No. Moniliza checks your site from the internet, so the address must be publicly reachable. Moniliza does not accept local or private addresses.
