ZCBRG Admin Color Generator

Description

Tired of the same admin color schemes? ZCBRG Admin Color Generator lets you create a custom admin color scheme that works exactly like the built-in ones — but with your own colors.

Choose 4 base colors:
1. Accent — WordPress theme color (buttons, highlights)
2. Menu background — Left sidebar color
3. Menu text — Navigation text color
4. Admin bar background — Top bar color

The plugin automatically generates all derived colors: hover states, active states, submenu backgrounds, contrast colors, and darker/lighter variants. No need to configure every UI state manually.

FAQ

How is this different from Admin Color Labels plugin?

Admin Color Labels lets you set individual colors per menu item. Admin Color Generator creates a complete admin color scheme (like the built-in ones). They complement each other — use both! When both are active, they appear under a shared “Admin Colors” menu.

Are my changes visible to other users?

No. Each user customizes their own colors. Changes are stored per user. With site-wide enforcement enabled, administrators can optionally apply a global palette.

Can I switch back to a built-in scheme?

Yes. Visit Users Profile and select any built-in scheme (Default, Light, Modern, etc.). Your custom palette is preserved if you switch back.

Does this work with plugins that add admin menus?

Yes! The color scheme applies to the entire admin chrome — including menus added by other plugins.

Will this slow down my admin?

No. Color values are attached to the plugin’s enqueued stylesheet, so WordPress loads one cached stylesheet that resolves the colors through CSS variables. The plugin ships no build tools and no third-party libraries.

Does this affect the frontend of my site?

No. The plugin only runs in the WordPress admin area.

Can I create and manage multiple palettes?

Yes. The Palettes tab lets you create, rename, duplicate, delete, and switch between unlimited named palettes, and export/import them as JSON files.

Can an administrator enforce a palette for everyone?

Yes. The Site-Wide tab enforces a palette for all users in hard or soft mode, with optional role exclusions. The Roles tab assigns a palette per user role.

Can I export and import on different sites?

Yes. Export creates a standard JSON file. Import it on any other WordPress site running the same plugin. Palette colors are validated during import.
