Groundling Search for DeepSeek

Description

Groundling Search adds DeepSeek as a provider of the AI Client built into WordPress 7.0, under the name “DeepSeek (Groundling Search)”.

Any plugin that asks the AI Client for web search can run on DeepSeek models: when a request needs fresh facts, the model searches the web through the DeepSeek Search API, reads the results, and answers with them.

• Connect once in Settings > Connectors. WordPress stores the API key, not this plugin.
• Models are listed live from your DeepSeek account.
• Web search runs as a tool the model calls, up to 10 searches per request by default.
• Each answer reports how many billable searches it used, so the calling plugin can show the real cost.
• DeepSeek Flash models also read images; other DeepSeek models are text only.

It works alongside “AI Provider for DeepSeek”: the two register under different provider IDs and keep separate keys.

This plugin connects to the DeepSeek API at https://api.deepseek.com, which it needs to generate text and to search the web.

• When a plugin on your site sends a request to the AI Client on a DeepSeek model, this plugin sends the prompt, the system instruction and the generation settings to https://api.deepseek.com/chat/completions.
• When that request needs web search, this plugin sends each search query written by the model to https://api.deepseek.com/v1/tools/search.
• WordPress lists the models of your account at https://api.deepseek.com/models when the connector is saved and whenever it checks which models are available (the list is cached, then refreshed).

Every request carries the API key you saved in Settings > Connectors. Nothing is sent before you save a key, and nothing is sent to any other host.
