Description
TwinCart Product Barcodes lets you store a barcode number on every product and shows it to your customers as a real, scannable barcode on the product page.
Barcodes are drawn by the plugin itself as sharp SVG images. No external service is used and no data leaves your site.
Features
- A “Barcode” field on every product, in the Inventory tab of the product edit screen.
- One barcode type for the whole store, selected in WooCommerce -> Settings -> Barcodes.
- Supported types: Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF-14.
- Numbers are checked when you save the product. For EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF-14 you can leave out the check digit and it is added for you; if you enter it, it is verified.
- The barcode and its number are shown on the single product page, below the short description.
- If a number is not valid for the selected type, customers see nothing and shop managers see a short note with the reason and a link to edit the product.

Installation
- Upload the plugin files to the
/wp-content/plugins/twincart-product-barcodesdirectory, or install the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress. - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress.
- Go to WooCommerce -> Settings -> Barcodes and select your barcode type (Code 128 is selected by default).
- Edit a product, open the Inventory tab and enter its number in the “Barcode” field.

Does this plugin require WooCommerce?

Yes. WooCommerce must be installed and active for this plugin to work.

Which barcode type should I choose?

If your products already have EAN or UPC numbers, choose EAN-13, EAN-8 or UPC-A. For your own internal codes that contain letters, choose Code 128.

Why is the barcode not shown on a product?

Either the product has no barcode number, or the number is not valid for the selected barcode type. When you are logged in as a shop manager, the product page shows the reason. The product edit screen shows it below the “Barcode” field too.

Does the plugin use an external service to create the barcodes?

No. Barcodes are generated locally on your server.

Is this the same as the WooCommerce “GTIN, UPC, EAN or ISBN” field?

No. That field is used by WooCommerce for product data. The “Barcode” field of this plugin is the number that is drawn as a barcode on the product page, and it accepts every supported type, including codes with letters.

What happens to my data when I delete the plugin?

The plugin setting and the barcode numbers stored on your products are deleted. Deactivating the plugin keeps them.
