Bouzin Fresh Reset

Description

A fresh WordPress start, without the guesswork.

Bouzin Fresh Reset gives administrators a guided way to reinstall a supported WordPress website from a clean, verified installation.

Why choose Bouzin Fresh Reset?

  • Fresh WordPress core: Official WordPress files downloaded and verified before replacement.
  • Keep your administrator access: Preserve one administrator account and its existing password.
  • Simple, visual progress: One progress bar showing preparation, reinstallation and final cleanup.
  • Guarded recovery: Carefully controlled recovery after interruptions, without blindly repeating destructive operations.
  • Flexible cleanup: Choose which eligible additional files and database tables to remove.
  • Safety first: Unsupported configurations are rejected before destructive operations.

Important: Resetting permanently removes existing website data. Always create and verify an independent backup before proceeding. Designed for supported single-site WordPress installations.

Warning: destructive operation. Bouzin Fresh Reset replaces the WordPress installation and removes its existing site data and extensions. It preserves the selected administrator account, its password hash, and selected site preferences. It is not a backup or migration tool and cannot undo completed destructive cleanup. Make an independently verified backup before use.

The plugin checks the environment, downloads and verifies the matching official WordPress core package, and prepares a temporary, authenticated recovery runner to continue the operation when the old WordPress application is no longer available. It uses an operation journal to prevent ambiguous retries and support recovery after interruptions.

Before starting, the plugin checks permissions, SQL compatibility, package checksums, paths, origin and transport security, and public HTTP isolation. It refuses unsupported configurations and does not remove unrelated database prefixes. Eligible additional files and same-prefix database tables are preserved unless the administrator explicitly selects them for deletion; protected entries cannot be selected.

The interface shows one progress bar and three persistent stages: preparation, WordPress reinstallation, and final cleanup. Recovery actions appear only when intervention is needed.

Security and limitations

This plugin performs irreversible file and database operations. It requires elevated WordPress administrator permission, explicit confirmation, matching operation state, transport checks, and a protected recovery workflow. It downloads the matching official WordPress core package and verifies package files against an official manifest before replacement. It does not fetch arbitrary third-party executable packages.

Because the existing WordPress runtime is replaced during the reset, a temporary standalone PHP recovery runner is created in the WordPress root; the confidential operation journal is held in a private directory outside the public document root. These unusual filesystem operations require an individual review against WordPress.org directory guidelines. Their presence is disclosed here and does not imply approval or an exemption.

The plugin does not guarantee restoration of the original website once irreversible deletion has occurred. It should be used only by administrators who understand the consequences and have independent backups.

Installation

  1. Create and verify a separate backup of the entire site and database.
  2. Install and activate on an expendable single-site WordPress installation that meets the requirements below.
  3. Open Tools > Reset WordPress and read the irreversible-deletion warning.
  4. Confirm the operation once. Do not start another reset while recovery is active or its status is uncertain.
  5. Follow the progress screen until the operation finishes. Sign in again to the newly installed WordPress admin area as required.

FAQ

What does the reset preserve?

The selected administrator account and its password hash, plus the limited site preferences described on the confirmation screen. Other site data, plugins, themes and media may be removed. The exact cleanup depends on ownership verification and selected options.

Does it support WordPress Multisite, unusual hosting layouts or FTP-only updates?

No. This version is for eligible single-site installations with a standard physical WordPress root, direct filesystem access, compatible SQL, and a writable, isolated private work area outside the public document root on the same filesystem. Unsupported or ambiguous layouts are rejected before destructive work.

What about extra files or database tables?

Eligible additional files and tables using the site’s WordPress database prefix are listed before confirmation and remain unchecked by default. The administrator can explicitly select them for deletion. Protected files, symbolic links and tables with other database prefixes are not selectable. An unfamiliar item may still be important to the hosting account or another application; review it before selecting.

What happens if the browser closes, the connection is lost or the host returns HTTP 503/504?

The server-side operation journal and recovery checks distinguish a temporary connection problem from a stopped operation. Do not launch a second reset while an earlier operation may still be running. The same browser tab may restore a previously confirmed intent for a limited time, subject to strict session, form and server checks.

Is HTTP supported?

HTTPS is required for remote servers. Unencrypted HTTP is permitted only for strictly local development scenarios with an additional explicit confirmation. The reset verifies public HTTP isolation before destructive operations.

Does the new installation retain the old WP_DEBUG setting?

No. Its newly generated wp-config.php uses WP_DEBUG=false by default. On an expendable test site, enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG before testing the plugin, review the host PHP logs for the independent recovery phase, and inspect the new installation separately after the reset. Debug settings should not be enabled on public production sites.
