Description
Tlloancy People’s Giftcard turns any WooCommerce product into a gift card your customers can personalise. Suggested amounts or a free amount, a recipient, a message, a delivery date. After payment the recipient gets a designed email with a code. The balance is spent in the normal coupon field, in as many orders as it takes.
No upsell, no “Pro” tab. Every feature below is in the free plugin.
For your customers
- Pick an amount from suggested buttons (25 / 50 / 100…) or type any amount, within the limits you set.
- Personalise: recipient name and email, a message up to 300 characters, and a “send on” date for birthdays and holidays.
- Spend it your way: enter the code in the coupon field of the classic checkout or the checkout block. Whatever is not spent stays on the card.
- Check the balance with the
[tlpg_balance]shortcode, or in My Account Gift cards. - Clear error messages: “This gift card has expired”, not “Coupon does not exist”.
For you
- Know what you owe: the Gift cards screen shows the total balance owed to customers.
- Full history of every card: issued, spent, restored, adjusted, voided, with the order behind each movement.
- Issue cards by hand for a gift, a goodwill gesture or a contest prize, and email them.
- Adjust, void, resend, change the expiry of any card.
- Expiry per store or per product (some countries set a minimum validity, so check your local rules).
- Export to CSV for your accountant.
- Search and filter by code, email, name, order, or status (active, scheduled, used, expired, voided).
- Optional code prefix, such as
SHOP-ABCD-2345-WXYZ.
Built so you can trust the balance
- The balance is reserved when the order is created, not when it is paid. Two orders cannot spend the same money.
- Cancelled, failed or refunded orders give the balance back, and unused cards bought on that order are voided. If the order is paid again, everything is put back.
- Every change is atomic and logged. The history always explains the balance.
- Cards are issued once. A repeated payment notification never creates a second card.
- Codes are 12 random characters from an alphabet without look-alike letters (no 0/O or 1/I), and lookups are rate-limited against guessing.
- Nothing is deleted when you uninstall, unless you tick the box. Your customers keep their balances.
- HPOS (high-performance order storage) and Cart and Checkout blocks are supported.
- Privacy: integrates with WordPress’ personal data export and erasure tools.
Works with
WooCommerce 8.2+ with the classic or the block checkout, block themes and classic themes, any payment gateway, any SMTP plugin (emails go through WooCommerce’s mailer).

Installation
- Install and activate WooCommerce, then Tlloancy People’s Giftcard.
- Edit a simple product, tick Gift card in the General tab, and publish.
- Optional: open WooCommerce Gift cards Settings to set suggested amounts, a validity period and the email subject.
- Optional: add
[tlpg_balance]to a page so customers can check their balance.
FAQ

Does it replace the WooCommerce coupon field?

No. The customer enters the gift card code in the normal coupon field. That works in the classic checkout and in the checkout block, with no extra step.

Does a gift card pay for shipping?

A gift card is applied as a discount on the products in the cart, as a coupon is. Shipping is not covered.

Can a gift card buy another gift card?

No. Gift card products are excluded from what a card can pay for.

Is tax charged when the card is sold, or when it is spent?

Tlloancy People’s Giftcard applies a card as a discount, so tax is calculated on the discounted prices. Rules on gift cards differ between countries (single-purpose and multi-purpose vouchers are not taxed the same way), so set the tax status of your gift card product with your accountant.

What happens to the code if the order is refunded or cancelled?

A card bought on that order is voided if it was not used. A balance that paid for that order goes back on its card. A card the merchant voided by hand stays voided.

Can I send a card on a future date?

Yes. The buyer picks a “send on” date, up to one year ahead. WP-Cron sends the email on that day. Cards waiting to be sent are listed under the “Scheduled” filter.

Where are the cards stored?

In two tables of your database (
tlpg_cardsandtlpg_ledger). They are kept when you delete the plugin unless you tick “Delete all gift cards and history” in the settings. -
I used “Gift Card Amount” before. Will I lose my cards?

No. On activation, Tlloancy People’s Giftcard imports the cards, the product settings and the code prefix from that earlier plugin.

How do customers check a balance?

Put
[tlpg_balance]on any page. Logged-in customers also see their cards in My Account Gift cards.
