Description

PostaraMail is simple AI-powered email marketing built for solo business owners and freelancers. It is a product of PostaraAI LLC (https://postaraai.com). This plugin connects your WordPress site to your PostaraMail account at https://postaramail.com.

The plugin needs a PostaraMail account (there is a free plan) to do anything: it is a connector to that service.

One-click connect (every plan, including Free)
Press “Connect to PostaraMail”, log in and press Allow. That is all: no API key to copy. The connection can only add contacts and read your automations. Disconnect any time in WordPress or in PostaraMail (Settings → Connected websites).

What gets synced
* New registrations: automatically, with a clear notice on the registration form (“By registering you agree to receive emails…”), or with a strict tick box for the EU and UK.
* WooCommerce customers (classic checkout): the same two options at checkout.
* Signup form: a block (“PostaraMail Signup Form”) or the shortcode [postaramail_form], with consent tick box, privacy link and spam protection.
* Commenters: optional tick box.
* Existing users: shown in PostaraMail as “Not asked yet” (never emailed, not counted in your plan). They are asked once, with a small prompt after login (“Get news by email? Yes / No / Later”) and an optional “Want to stay in touch?” email with Yes and No links. Only a “yes” makes them subscribed; a “no” makes them Declined.
* Regional rules when you send: every contact has a country (WooCommerce billing country, or worked out from the visitor’s IP, which is not stored). In PostaraMail you tick EU / UK, other opt-in countries, or everywhere else when sending, each with a short legal note. EU / UK contacts are only included with a clear opt-in.
* Managed from PostaraMail: the Websites page in your PostaraMail dashboard (and the Android app) controls the settings, notices and the “stay in touch” email. This plugin follows it, and changes made here are saved there too.

Built for real sites
* Shows your plan usage (for example “37 of 100 contacts”) with an Upgrade button, and a clear notice when the plan is full.
* If PostaraMail is unreachable or the plan is full, signups wait in a queue and are retried automatically. Nothing is lost.
* Each contact is stored with the exact consent wording the person saw, as proof.
* Works on cached pages, works without JavaScript, accessible markup.
* Permission-based email only. Purchased, scraped or rented lists are not allowed in PostaraMail.

A note on consent
Many countries (the EU, UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, India, Singapore and others) expect people to opt in before marketing emails; others, such as the US, require an unsubscribe link and honest identification. This plugin gives you both approaches. The wording is a general template, not legal advice: have it checked for your country and business.

External services

This plugin connects your site to the PostaraMail service (https://postaramail.com), operated by PostaraAI LLC. It cannot work without it, and it sends nothing until you press Connect to PostaraMail and approve the connection.

What is sent, and when
* When you connect or disconnect: a one-time code, your site address and name. PostaraMail returns a connection token that is stored in your site’s options.
* When someone registers, checks out, comments (if enabled) or uses the signup form: their email address, name, country (WooCommerce billing country, or worked out from their IP address), the consent wording they saw, and the date and method of consent. For this the visitor’s IP address may be sent once to PostaraMail to work out the country; it is not stored there.
* For existing users (if you enable “Existing users”): email address, name, role and country, so you can see them as “Not asked yet”. They are never emailed until they say yes.
* Regularly: a small status message (plugin and WordPress version, number of users, whether tasks run) so the Overview and your PostaraMail dashboard can show whether the connection works.

Data goes only to postaramail.com, over HTTPS, and is used to run your email marketing.

Privacy

The plugin adds suggested text to Settings → Privacy → Policy Guide describing what it sends. Subscribers are stored in PostaraMail, not on your site (only a short retry queue is kept while PostaraMail is unreachable). People can unsubscribe from every email, and can make a privacy request at https://postaramail.com/privacy-request.

FAQ

Do I need a paid plan?

No. One-click connect works on Free, Starter, Growth, Pro and Scale. Your plan’s contact limit applies. (A manual API key, under Advanced, needs the Pro or Scale plan.)

Where are my subscribers stored?

In PostaraMail. This plugin keeps no subscriber list on your site, only a short retry queue while PostaraMail cannot be reached.

What does “Not asked yet” mean?

People who already have an account on your site are listed in your PostaraMail Contacts so you can see them, but they cannot receive any email and do not count toward your plan until they say yes.

Are people added automatically when they register?

Only if you choose “Automatic, with a notice” and confirm you have the right to email them. People who register through an admin, an import or another plugin (where the notice was not shown) are never sent.

Does it work with the WooCommerce block checkout?

The opt-in notice or tick box supports the classic checkout. For block checkout, put the signup form on your thank-you page.

Can someone who unsubscribed be added again?

No. PostaraMail keeps unsubscribed addresses unsubscribed.

Changelog

2.2.2

  • Review fixes: the existing-user prompt now loads its own enqueued style and script, background tasks are scheduled after translations load (no debug notices), and tab labels are properly translatable.

2.2.1

  • Plugin name is now simply “PostaraMail” (WordPress.org does not allow “WordPress” in plugin names).
  • Prepared for the WordPress.org plugin directory: external-services disclosure, escaping and coding-standards fixes.

2.2.0

  • Better country detection for existing users: besides the WooCommerce country, the plugin now uses common profile fields, WooCommerce’s customer table and the last login address (sent once, turned into a country by PostaraMail and thrown away).
  • New “Look up countries” button on the Overview. It also runs once automatically after this update, so people shown without a country get a second chance. Only people still “not asked yet” are updated.

2.1.3

  • The Overview now accounts for every user: how many are shown in PostaraMail, waiting, said yes or no, and a list of anyone left out with the reason (administrator, role not ticked, no valid email).

2.1.2

  • New registrations are now sent to PostaraMail right away (at the end of the same request) instead of waiting for WordPress’s background scheduler, which can be slow on cached sites.
  • The retry can no longer be silently dropped by WordPress’s duplicate-event rule.
  • Users with no role, or with a role another plugin added after you chose roles, are no longer skipped (administrators still are).
  • The Overview shows how many users are on the site, how many are in PostaraMail and how many are waiting, which roles are not included, whether background tasks run, and a Send now button.
  • Opening the PostaraMail screen sends anyone waiting.

2.1.1

  • Existing users who answer yes are marked as already confirmed, so PostaraMail’s double opt-in does not email them again.

2.1.0

  • Existing users appear in PostaraMail as “Not asked yet” (never emailed); yes makes them subscribed, no makes them Declined.
  • Country and consent method are sent with every contact so PostaraMail can apply EU / UK, opt-in-country and other rules when sending.
  • Settings are managed in PostaraMail (Websites page) and followed by the plugin; plugin changes are saved there too.
  • The “Want to stay in touch?” email can be started from the PostaraMail dashboard.

2.0.0

  • One-click connect on every plan (no API key).
  • New app-style screen: Overview, Sync, Forms, Existing users, Advanced.
  • Automatic adding of new registrations and WooCommerce customers with a consent notice, or strict tick box.
  • Existing users: login prompt and one optional question email; only “yes” adds them.
  • Plan usage, upgrade button and plan-full notice.
  • Consent wording stored with every contact.

1.0.0

  • First release.
