EgyDevInfo Customer Shipment Lookup for WooCommerce

Description

Many customers in cash-on-delivery stores never type a real email address at checkout, but they always give a phone number. This plugin lets them track an order with the order number plus the phone number (or the email, if you prefer) they used at checkout. No account, no outside tracking service, no limit on orders.

What your customers see

  • A tracking page with a timeline: order received, being prepared, on the way, out for delivery, delivered. Each step shows the date it was reached.
  • Courier name, tracking number and a button that opens the courier’s own tracking page.
  • A note from you, for example “We will call you before delivery”.
  • Logged-in customers see their recent orders on the same page, and the same tracking card inside My Account > View order.
  • Phone numbers match however they are typed: 01012345678, +201012345678, 0020 101 234 5678, even with Arabic-Indic digits. Right-to-left languages are supported.

What you control

  • Delivery statuses: On the way, Out for delivery, Delivery failed and Returned. Turn on only the ones you use, rename them and pick a color. They appear in the orders list with colored badges and in the bulk actions menu.
  • Courier list: add your couriers and, if you have it, the courier’s tracking link with {tracking} where the number goes. Couriers without a link still show their name and the number.
  • Shipment box on every order (works with and without High-Performance Order Storage): courier, tracking number, optional custom link, and a note for the customer. A Tracking column in the orders list shows it at a glance.
  • All your order statuses: name, color and timeline step for every status in your store, from WooCommerce or other plugins, without changing your orders. You can also add up to 10 statuses of your own, such as “Packed” or “Ready for pickup”.
  • Customer emails: choose which delivery statuses send an email, and edit the subject and message. Courier and tracking number are also added to WooCommerce’s own customer emails.
  • WhatsApp button: on each order, a “Message customer on WhatsApp” button opens WhatsApp with your message already written. The plugin does not send anything by itself.
  • Brute-force protection: a limit on failed lookups per visitor stops people guessing order numbers.

Good to know

  • The plugin does not contact any outside service.
  • A tracking page is created for you on activation. You can also put [egydevinfo_order_tracking] on any page.
  • Changing the status of an order to one of the delivery statuses is done by you or your team, or in bulk from the orders list. Tracking is not pulled automatically from couriers.
  • Upgrading from Woo Order Tracker 1.x? Your settings and existing tracking details are picked up automatically. The old SMS webhook is no longer included.

Privacy

  • Lookups compare what the visitor types with the order’s billing and shipping phone and billing email. Nothing the visitor types is stored.
  • After a failed lookup the plugin keeps a counter for 15 minutes under a hash of the visitor’s IP address (a WordPress transient). It is used only to limit failed lookups.
  • Tracking details you enter are stored as order meta on your own site.
  • The tracking page shows the order number, status, dates, courier, tracking number and your note. It does not show names, addresses or phone numbers.
  • Emails are sent with your site’s normal email setup (wp_mail).

External services

This plugin does not send data to any service by itself.

The optional “Message customer on WhatsApp” button on the order screen is a link to https://wa.me (WhatsApp, operated by Meta). The link contains the customer’s phone number and the message text. It is opened only when a store admin clicks it. See WhatsApp’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You can turn the button off in WooCommerce > Order Tracking.

The courier tracking buttons link to the courier addresses you enter in the courier list. Customers go to those sites only when they click the button.

Installation

  1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
  2. Upload the plugin and activate it.
  3. Go to WooCommerce > Order Tracking. Turn on the delivery statuses you use and review your courier list.
  4. Open any order. Fill in the Shipment tracking box, then change the order status.
  5. Share the tracking page link with your customers, or add it to your menu.

FAQ

Where is the tracking page?

The plugin creates a page called “Track your order” on activation. Its address is shown at the top of WooCommerce > Order Tracking. You can also add the [egydevinfo_order_tracking] shortcode to any page.

How do I make the tracking number a clickable link?

Open WooCommerce > Order Tracking and edit the courier list. Write the courier’s name, a vertical bar, and its tracking link with {tracking} where the number goes, for example My Courier | https://example.com/track?number={tracking}. Copy the link format from a tracking message your courier sends you. If a courier only has a general tracking page, paste that page address without {tracking}; customers are told to enter the number there.

Can customers look up an order with a phone number only?

They enter the order number and the phone number. You can choose phone only, email only, or both.

Does it work with the WooCommerce Checkout block and High-Performance Order Storage?

Yes. The plugin does not change checkout. It declares compatibility with High-Performance Order Storage and uses WooCommerce’s own order functions.

Does it work with sequential order number plugins?

It checks the order number WooCommerce shows and the common sequential number fields. If your plugin uses a different field, add it with the egydevinfo_order_tracking_number_meta_keys filter.

What happens to orders in my own statuses if I delete the plugin?

WooCommerce will no longer know those statuses. Move the orders to a standard status such as Completed before deleting the plugin.

Will customers be emailed automatically?

Only when an order is moved to a delivery status that has “Email the customer” turned on. Edit the message in WooCommerce > Order Tracking.

Is tracking updated automatically from the courier?

No. You or your team set the status. This keeps the plugin free of outside services and accounts.

The lookup says “Too many attempts”.

A visitor can make a limited number of failed lookups every 15 minutes. You can change the limit in WooCommerce > Order Tracking. If all your visitors appear to come from one address because of a proxy, raise the limit.

Changelog

1.2.3

  • The old Woo Order Tracker shortcode is no longer registered. If your tracking page still used it, the page is updated to the current shortcode automatically.

1.2.2

  • Renamed to EgyDevInfo Customer Shipment Lookup for WooCommerce. Settings and orders are not affected.

1.2.1

  • Fix: cancelled, refunded and failed orders now end the timeline with a red step showing that status, after the steps actually reached. The grey future steps and the separate red banner are gone.
  • New: statuses that are not one of the fixed steps (On hold, “Awaiting transfer” from a payment plugin, any other status) now appear in the timeline as their own step, with their name and date. Map one to a step in the status table to keep it inside the fixed steps.

1.2.0

  • New: “Your order statuses” table. Every status in your store, from WooCommerce or other plugins, can get its own customer-facing name, color and timeline step, be marked as a problem, and send a customer email. Nothing is created or changed on your orders.
  • New: add up to 10 order statuses of your own, with the same options. A status that orders still use cannot be removed; it is switched off instead.
  • Settings messages now appear on the plugin’s settings page.

1.0.2

  • New: optional “Sign in with Google” button on the tracking page for visitors who are not logged in. It appears only when the EgyDevInfo Sign In with Google plugin is installed, active and set up, and can be turned off in WooCommerce > Order Tracking.

1.0.1

  • New: product names and quantities on the tracking card (can be turned off) and a {products} placeholder for emails and WhatsApp messages.
  • New: a “Track your order here” note with the tracking page link in WooCommerce customer emails (can be turned off).

1.0.0

  • First release in the WordPress plugin directory, based on Woo Order Tracker 1.x.
  • New: lookup by order number plus phone number or email, with Arabic-Indic digit support and a failed-lookup limit.
  • New: timeline with dates, courier list with tracking links, delivery statuses with colors and bulk actions, Tracking column, WhatsApp message button.
  • New: works with High-Performance Order Storage.
  • Changed: settings and shipment details from Woo Order Tracker 1.x are picked up automatically.
