Shapiko 3D Configurator for WooCommerce

Description

Shapiko builds 3D product configurators with exact pricing for build-to-order products: railings, gates, fences and more. A buyer enters sizes and picks options, and sees the product in 3D with the price, the parts list and drawings. The configurator checks the rules (spacing, maximum spans, what fits with what), so only valid configurations get a price.

This plugin connects your Shapiko configurator to your WooCommerce store:

  • On product pages. Give a product a Shapiko configurator slug, and the configurator appears under the product summary.
  • Anywhere else. Use the “Shapiko 3D configurator” block or the [shapiko_configurator] shortcode on any page or post.
  • Exact parts in the cart. The configurator’s “Add to cart” button adds the exact products and variations, with their quantities, to your WooCommerce cart. It adds all of them or none.
  • Your prices. The cart charges your WooCommerce prices. Shapiko checks, when it builds the configurator, that its prices match your products.
  • The configuration goes with the order. Each cart line shows “Configuration: “. The order keeps the quote number on its lines, and the first line also gets the configuration details (sizes and options), so you know what to build.
  • Works with your cart. Classic cart and checkout, and the Cart and Checkout blocks. HPOS compatible.

A Shapiko configurator is a paid service. Shapiko builds it from your products and price list; you review it before it goes live. See shapiko.com.

How the cart works

  1. The configurator runs in a frame from https://shapiko.com.
  2. When the buyer clicks “Add to cart”, the configurator sends the list of products and quantities to your page, inside the buyer’s browser.
  3. The plugin accepts that message only from https://shapiko.com, and only from the plugin’s own frame. It checks every line (whole product IDs, quantities from 1 to 9999, at most 100 lines).
  4. It adds the lines through your store’s own WooCommerce Store API. If any line fails (for example, out of stock), or the store would change a quantity (minimum or pack sizes), it takes the lines it just added out again and shows the reason in the configurator.
  5. Then it goes to the cart page, or stays on the page and shows a notice, as you choose in the settings.

Before the configurator is live

Buyers see the configurator only once it is live, and only on the domains it is live for. Anywhere else the block folds away, so buyers see nothing. Logged-in editors see one line explaining why (not live yet, a domain that is not listed, or an unknown slug).

External services

This plugin shows the Shapiko configurator service, which runs on https://shapiko.com. It is needed: the configurator itself (the 3D view, the pricing and the parts list) is the service.

  • What is loaded, and when: on every page that shows a configurator, the buyer’s browser loads the configurator page https://shapiko.com/p/<slug>/v/latest/ in a frame. The frame loads when it scrolls into view.
  • What is sent: the configurator slug, your site’s address (scheme and domain, so the configurator can talk to your page), and the button label you set. As with any web page, the buyer’s browser also sends its IP address and user agent to shapiko.com. The configurator page loads the three.js 3D library from cdn.jsdelivr.net.
  • What is not sent: the plugin sends no cart, order or customer data to Shapiko. The items are added through your own store’s API, in the buyer’s browser. Nothing is sent when no configurator is shown.

Privacy

The plugin stores no personal data of its own. It adds two things to your WooCommerce data:

  • a cart item field with the configuration’s quote number (for example, “SMP-1K2J3H”), saved on the order lines as “Configuration”;
  • the configuration details (the sizes and options the buyer chose), kept in the buyer’s WooCommerce session until checkout and then saved on the first order line of that configuration as “Configuration details”.

Both come from the buyer’s browser, like a product option. They are part of the order, and WooCommerce’s own export and erasure tools cover them. Uninstalling the plugin deletes its settings and the products’ “Shapiko configurator slug” field; orders keep their lines.

Suggested text for your privacy policy: “Our product configurator is provided by Shapiko (shapiko.com). When you open a page with the configurator, your browser loads it from shapiko.com, which receives your IP address and browser details. The configuration you choose is added to your cart and order on this site.”

Blocks

This plugin provides 1 block.

  • Shapiko 3D configurator Shows your Shapiko 3D product configurator. Its Add to cart button puts the configured parts in the WooCommerce cart.

Installation

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose shapiko-configurator.zip, then Install Now. WooCommerce must be installed and active.
  2. Activate the plugin.
  3. Go to WooCommerce > Shapiko. Paste your configurator slug as the default configurator. You can paste the slug, the live link (https://shapiko.com/e/<slug>) or the embed code from your Shapiko dashboard.
  4. Choose the height, the button label and what happens after adding to the cart.
  5. Place the configurator:
    • on a product: Products > Edit > Product data > General > “Shapiko configurator slug”;
    • on any page: the “Shapiko 3D configurator” block, or [shapiko_configurator slug="your-slug" height="900"].

The configurator appears on your site once it is live in Shapiko for your domain.

FAQ

Where do I get a configurator slug?

From your Shapiko dashboard (https://shapiko.com/app/). Each configurator has a slug, such as acme-railing-k2j4h8. It is in the live link https://shapiko.com/e/<slug> and in the embed code data-shapiko="<slug>". Paste either one; the plugin keeps the slug.

Which products go in the cart?

The products and variations that Shapiko mapped from your catalog when it built the configurator. Each priced line of the configurator’s parts list is one of your products or variations. Lines that are included in another part, or not sold, are not added.

Which prices are charged?

Your WooCommerce prices, as for any cart. Shapiko checks that the configurator’s prices equal your store’s prices when it builds or updates the configurator. If you change a price in WooCommerce, ask Shapiko to update the configurator, so that both show the same price.

What if a product is out of stock or cannot be bought?

Nothing is added. The plugin removes any lines it had already added for that click, and the configurator shows WooCommerce’s message (for example, “not enough stock”).

What if my store has quantity rules (minimum, maximum, pack sizes)?

The plugin adds exactly the configured quantities or nothing. If a quantity rule would change a line (for example, screws sold in boxes of 10 when the configuration needs 12), it takes the lines out again and the configurator tells the buyer to contact you. Ask Shapiko to build the configurator with your pack sizes.

Does it work with the Cart and Checkout blocks and with HPOS?

Yes. The configuration reference shows in the classic cart and in the Cart block, and it is saved on the order lines with either checkout. The plugin declares compatibility with High-Performance Order Storage.

My security plugin blocks the REST API.

The plugin adds items through the WooCommerce Store API (/wp-json/wc/store/v1/). When that is not reachable, it falls back to admin-ajax.php.

The configurator area is empty or shows an error.

The configurator shows only on the domains your Shapiko configurator is live for. Check that it is live in your Shapiko dashboard and that the domain matches your site address. Editors see a short note where a configurator has no valid slug; buyers see nothing.

Can I change what happens after “Add to cart”?

Yes: WooCommerce > Shapiko > “After adding to the cart”. Go to the cart page, or stay on the page and show a notice. The shortcode also takes after="cart" or after="stay".
