M7tawa AI Taxonomy Descriptions

Description

M7tawa AI Taxonomy Descriptions is a focused WordPress administration plugin built specifically for category and tag descriptions.

Instead of adding a large AI writing suite, the plugin adds practical AI actions directly where taxonomy data is managed. Generate missing descriptions, improve existing ones, review every suggestion before applying it, and keep full control over what is saved.

The plugin works with the WordPress AI Client and the AI provider already configured through WordPress Connectors. It does not store provider API keys, require a specific AI vendor, classify posts, assign tags, create terms automatically, or change term slugs.

Version 2.0.0 supports the two built-in post taxonomies: Categories and Tags, including inline AI actions directly from their list tables.

Why this plugin?

  • Focused specifically on WordPress category and tag descriptions.
  • Works directly inside the Categories and Tags administration screens.
  • Generate or improve a description from the taxonomy list table without opening the term edit screen.
  • Review the AI draft inline, then Apply, Copy, or Cancel from the same row.
  • Uses the AI provider already connected to WordPress instead of adding separate API-key settings.
  • Keeps every AI-generated description under user control with Preview and Apply actions.
  • Does not silently create, classify, assign, rename, or modify taxonomy terms.
  • Lightweight by design, without unrelated AI writing, chatbot, or content-generation features.

Main features

  • Generate a description while creating a new category or tag.
  • Improve the current description while editing an existing category or tag.
  • Preview every AI suggestion before applying it.
  • Add inline Generate/Improve AI actions to the Categories and Tags list tables.
  • Preview the generated description in the same row, then Apply it directly, Copy it to the clipboard, or Cancel.
  • Update the Description column immediately after an inline Apply without leaving the list screen.
  • Review existing categories and tags from separate tabs on the plugin settings page.
  • Prepare selected categories or tags for review through WordPress bulk actions.
  • Choose a preferred description length: short, medium, or detailed.
  • Retry once on temporary provider errors such as rate limits or service overload.
  • Use the site’s configured provider instead of storing provider credentials in this plugin.

Nothing is saved automatically when generating a draft on category or tag add/edit screens. The user reviews the suggestion and decides whether to apply and save it. On Categories and Tags list tables, an existing term is updated only after the user explicitly clicks Apply in the inline preview.

Requirements

  • WordPress 7.0 or later.
  • A compatible AI provider plugin configured through the WordPress AI Client / Connectors system.
  • A provider/model that supports text generation.

Compatible providers can include official or third-party WordPress AI provider plugins. Availability depends on the providers installed and configured on the site.

External services

This plugin uses the WordPress AI Client. When you explicitly click a Generate or Improve button, WordPress sends the category or tag name and, when relevant, its current description to the AI provider configured on your site so that a suggested description can be generated.

This plugin does not store provider API keys and does not send AI requests automatically on activation, page load, cron, or in the background.

The external provider that receives the request depends entirely on the AI connector configured by the site administrator. Each provider has its own terms and privacy policy. Review the documentation of the provider plugin and service you choose before use.

FAQ

Does this plugin require an OpenAI key?

No. The plugin does not depend on OpenAI specifically and does not contain an API-key field. It uses the compatible AI provider configured through WordPress.

Does this plugin suggest categories or tags for my posts?

No. It only generates and improves descriptions for existing or newly created categories and tags. It does not classify posts or assign terms to content.

Does it create categories or tags automatically?

No. The plugin only prepares description suggestions for terms you create or select yourself. It never creates taxonomy terms automatically.

Does it change slugs?

No. It does not modify category or tag names, slugs, parent terms, or post assignments.

Are descriptions saved automatically?

No. On category and tag add/edit screens, generated text is only placed into the description field after you click Apply, and you still save the term normally. On list tables and in the settings review tool, an existing term is updated only after you explicitly click Apply for that term.

Can I use Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, or another provider?

The plugin is provider-agnostic. It works when WordPress has a compatible text-generation provider configured through the AI Client. Provider availability depends on the connector plugins installed on the site.
