Storzen Product Tag Assistant for WooCommerce helps you add product tags in WooCommerce automatically. It reads each product’s title and description, asks OpenAI for relevant tags, categories and attributes, and lets you review the suggestions before anything is saved. You can also apply them automatically when a product is saved, or tag many products at once from the products list.
Well-organised product tags make your store easier to browse and search, help shoppers find related products, and can give search engines clearer signals about what you sell. Doing it by hand for a large catalog takes hours. This plugin does the first pass for you, and you stay in control of the result.

How it works
- Install and activate the plugin, then add your OpenAI API key under WooCommerce Settings Tag Assistant.
- Open any product and click Get AI Suggestions in the Tag Assistant panel.
- Review the suggestions, deselect any you don’t want, and click Apply Selected.
To tag many products at once, select them in the products list and choose a Tag Assistant bulk action.

Requirements
- WooCommerce (installed and active)
- An OpenAI API key. You use your own account, and OpenAI bills you directly for usage.
External services
This plugin connects to the OpenAI API (https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions) to generate tag, category and attribute suggestions. It is used only when you have entered your own API key and you click Get AI Suggestions or Test API Connection, run a bulk action, or enable auto-tagging on product save. Nothing is sent when the plugin is activated.
Data sent: the product title, short description, an excerpt of the description, SKU and existing category names. No customer, order or personal data is sent.

Privacy
This plugin sends product information (see “External services” above) to the OpenAI API for processing. No customer names, email addresses or order data are transmitted. Please review OpenAI’s privacy policy before use.

Installation
- Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active.
- Upload the plugin folder to
/wp-content/plugins/, or install it via Plugins Add New. - Activate the plugin.
- Go to WooCommerce Settings Tag Assistant and enter your OpenAI API key.
- Click Test API Connection to check that the key works.
- Open any product and use the Tag Assistant panel in the sidebar.

Enter your OpenAI API key under WooCommerce Settings Tag Assistant, then either click Get AI Suggestions on a product, enable auto-tagging on save, or use a bulk action on the products list.

Yes. Select several products in the products list, then choose one of the Tag Assistant bulk actions. You can preview suggestions only, or tag and apply them straight away. Large batches take a little longer because the plugin pauses briefly between products to avoid hammering the API.

Do I need an OpenAI API key?

Yes. The plugin does not include AI credits. You add your own OpenAI API key, and OpenAI bills you directly for usage. GPT-4o Mini is the default because it is fast and low cost.

Which OpenAI model should I use?

GPT-4o Mini is selected by default and works well for most catalogs. GPT-4o is available if you want higher accuracy on complex product data.

When suggestions are applied, the suggested tags replace the product’s current tags. Categories are added to what the product already has; existing categories are never removed. In the product panel you can review and deselect any suggestion before applying. If you enable auto-tagging on save, suggestions are applied without a review step, so test on a few products first.

Does it work with variable, grouped and external products?

Yes, it works with all WooCommerce product types.

Is my product data sent anywhere other than OpenAI?

No. Only the product details listed under “External services” are sent to OpenAI. The plugin does not contact any other third-party service.

Will it slow down my store?

No front-end scripts or styles are added to your shop pages. The plugin’s assets load only on the product edit screen and on its own settings tab, and the AI request runs only when you trigger it or when auto-tagging is enabled.

What happens when I uninstall the plugin?

All plugin settings, product meta and the activity log table are permanently removed from your database. Tags and categories already applied to your products are kept.
