Description
From 27 September 2026 Directive (EU) 2024/825 adds new items to the
information a shop has to give consumers before a purchase: the repairability
index where EU law sets one; otherwise what the producer says about spare
parts, repair and maintenance instructions and repair restrictions; and, for
goods with digital elements, the minimum period of software updates. In Italy
the directive is transposed by Legislative Decree 30/2026 into article 49 of
the Consumer Code, letters n-quater, v-bis and v-ter.
WooCommerce has no place for any of this. The plugin adds the fields to the
product and shows them on the product page.
What it does
- Adds a “Guarantees and repairability” tab to the product data, with one field
for each item the law lists: repairability index (A to E), spare parts,
estimated cost of spare parts, how to order them, repair and maintenance
instructions, repair restrictions, software updates, and the producer’s
commercial guarantee - Shows a tab with the same name on the product page, with only the fields you
filled in. When they are all empty nothing appears: an empty field never
turns into “not available” - Works alongside the Guarantee Notice plugin, which shows the harmonised
notice and the durability label, and tells you in the product when a product
already carries the label - Admin screens in English and Italian
What it does not do
- It does not show the harmonised guarantee notice or the durability label.
A free plugin already does that well, and this one recommends it - It does not tell whether the information is right. The information comes
from the producer; the plugin shows what you write - It is not legal advice. Whether a shop meets the law in full is up to
the shop, and in doubt to a lawyer - It does not send anything anywhere. No outbound calls, no keys, no third
party services

- Install and activate the plugin. WooCommerce has to be active
- Open a product and fill in the Guarantees and repairability tab of the product data

Which products need these fields?

The ones for which the producer gives the information. A phone has a
repairability index and software updates; a drill may have spare parts and
repair instructions; a T-shirt usually has none of these, and then its page
stays as it is. -
Where does the repairability index apply?

Today only to smartphones and tablets, whose EU energy label carries a
repairability class from A to E (Regulation (EU) 2023/1669). For the other
products leave it empty and fill in spare parts, instructions and
restrictions. -
Does it work with variable products?

The fields belong to the product. The variations show the fields of their
product. -
Can I fill the fields in bulk?

Not from the screens of this version. The fields are product meta
(_vaglio_garanzie_indice,_vaglio_garanzie_ricambiand so on), so any tool that writes
product meta can fill them, the WooCommerce REST API included. The index
accepts only the letters A to E: anything else is ignored on the product page. -
What happens to the fields if I uninstall the plugin?

Deactivating keeps them. Uninstalling deletes them from all products.
