Elderion SearchWeave – Search & Filter Content Blocks

Description

Elderion SearchWeave adds two blocks to the editor:

  • SearchWeave – Live Search & Filter — the container. Configure the search box (colors, border radius, font size, placeholder), an optional heading, minimum characters before filtering, fuzzy matching sensitivity, the “no results” message, block/row/hover background colors, and how many columns to lay items out in.
  • SearchWeave Item — a repeatable searchable item that lives inside the list. Build it from images, headings, text, lists and buttons — the supported building blocks for an item — and whatever you place inside becomes both the visible content and the text visitors can search.

Typing into the search box filters the list live (after a configurable minimum number of characters, default 3), matching on partial text and, if enabled, near-matches with a typo or two (fuzzy matching via Levenshtein distance). Rows highlight on hover, and the layout collapses to a single column on mobile.

Build it. Filter it. Find it.

Suitable for staff directories, resource hubs, service catalogs, FAQ collections, product/service showcases, knowledge collections, project lists, and simple directories — anywhere a list of editor-built content benefits from being instantly searchable.

SearchWeave is not a table plugin, and it isn’t intended to compete with plugins built around filtering existing posts, WooCommerce products, or database/CSV data. The core idea is simpler: authors build content items directly in the block editor using ordinary WordPress blocks, and SearchWeave adds live search and filtering on top.

No build step, no external dependencies — the whole plugin works immediately after being installed.

Elderion SearchWeave is part of the Elderion plugin ecosystem and is fully independent — it does not require, and will never require, any other Elderion plugin to be installed.

FAQ

Can I control how many columns items are laid out in?

Yes — the Layout panel in the block sidebar lets you choose 1–4 columns on desktop. It always collapses to a single column on smaller screens.

What content can I add to a SearchWeave Item?

Images, headings, paragraphs, lists, separators and buttons. This is an intentional restriction (not a technical limitation) that keeps card/row layouts predictable at any column count and keeps performance consistent.

Does the search box style stay consistent with my theme?

The block ships with sensible base styling and layout; colors, border radius and font size are fully configurable per-block from the Inspector, independent of the active theme.

Can I leave the heading above the search box empty?

Yes, it’s entirely optional — leave it blank and nothing is rendered above the search box.
