Description
Borealform Site Editor Toolkit adds a browsable pattern gallery, template breadcrumb, responsive preview, structural content locks, and style variation picker to the native WordPress Site Editor. All five tools are included and fully functional after activation.
The plugin loads its scripts and styles only in the Site Editor. It does not add assets, tracking, licence checks, or external requests to public-facing pages or send data to Borealform.
The free edition is complete and is not a trial. Borealform Pro is a separate commercial plugin with premium pattern/template packs, saved style systems, advanced editorial controls, agency workflow features, and priority support. Pro is never required for the tools listed here. Site administrators can optionally compare Pro from the Toolkit’s own admin screens; the free plugin does not track that choice.

Pattern Gallery lets you search and insert registered block patterns.
Template Breadcrumb shows the current template, template part, and selected block.
Responsive Preview switches the editor canvas between desktop, tablet, and mobile device modes.
Content Lock applies native WordPress content-only locks to supported container blocks.
Style Variations lets you browse and apply available global style variations. It is available on WordPress 6.5 and later when the active theme supplies variations.

To build the editor assets, run pnpm install --frozen-lockfile followed by pnpm run build. The repository also includes the WordPress.org packaging validation script.
Installation
- Upload the plugin files to
/wp-content/plugins/borealform-site-editor-toolkit/, or install through the WordPress Plugins screen. - Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.
- Open Appearance Editor to use the toolkit.

Does this work with my theme?

Yes. The toolkit works with block themes and reads patterns and style variations registered by WordPress, your theme, or other plugins.

Does this add blocks that will break when I deactivate the plugin?

No. The bundled patterns use core WordPress blocks. Content locks use native block attributes, so existing content remains valid if the plugin is deactivated.

Does it load anything on my public-facing site?

No. The toolkit only loads assets in the WordPress Site Editor. It does not enqueue scripts, styles, or external requests on public-facing pages.

What WordPress version do I need?

WordPress 6.4 or higher is required. Style Variations requires WordPress 6.5 or higher and a theme that supplies variations.

Does the mobile UI replace the WordPress Site Editor on mobile?

No. It adds a mobile-friendly drawer for the toolkit controls. WordPress core still controls the editor canvas and its mobile behavior.

Where can I get Pro?

Site administrators can choose Appearance Site Editor Toolkit or the optional card in the Toolkit’s Site Editor panel to compare Pro. Those links open https://borealform.com/blocklogic in a new tab. Pro is distributed separately and is never bundled with this WordPress.org plugin.

Does the free plugin contact Borealform?

No. It does not send telemetry, verify licences, collect email addresses, or make background requests. The only external navigation is a link an administrator deliberately opens to learn about the separate Pro extension.
