Responses – Live Chat & AI Replies

Description

Adds the Responses chat widget to your WordPress site. Visitors get a chat button in the corner of every page; their messages land in the same inbox as your Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram conversations, and you can answer from the web dashboard or the mobile apps.

The plugin is deliberately small. It holds no chat code and no styling — the widget is loaded from the Responses CDN, so improvements reach your site without you updating anything. What the plugin does that a pasted snippet cannot:

  • Connects without copying keys. You approve the connection in Responses and come straight back; nothing is typed by hand.
  • Fills in your site’s address for you. A widget only runs on addresses you allowed, and getting that address slightly wrong is the usual reason a chat button never appears.
  • Keeps that address correct. If your site moves to HTTPS or to a new domain, the plugin notices and updates it, instead of leaving a widget that silently stopped working.

A Responses account is required.

External services

This plugin connects your site to Responses (https://responses.me), a third-party chat service operated by Responses.

  • What is sent, and when. When a visitor opens the chat, their browser contacts Responses directly and sends the messages they type, plus a name if they choose to give one. This traffic does not pass through your server. From your server, the plugin sends only your site’s address and title — when you connect, and again if your site’s address later changes.
  • What is stored. Conversations are stored by Responses, not by this site. You can read, export and delete them from the Responses dashboard.
  • Terms and privacy. https://responses.me/terms and https://responses.me/privacy

Installation

  1. Install and activate the plugin.
  2. Open Responses Chat in the WordPress menu.
  3. Click Connect to Responses and approve the connection.

That is all — the chat button appears on your site immediately.

FAQ

The chat button does not appear

Almost always the site’s address is not on the widget’s allowed list. Open Channels Website Chat Widget in Responses: if the widget was loaded from an address that is not on the list, it is shown there with an Allow button.

Does chat traffic go through my server?

No. Visitors’ browsers talk to Responses directly, so the chat adds no load to your hosting and keeps working independently of it.

What happens if I deactivate the plugin?

The widget disappears from your site. Your conversations stay in Responses.
