External services

This plugin can connect to the third-party services listed below. Every one of them is optional: a service is contacted only after you enable and configure that specific feature. If you do not configure any of them, this plugin makes no external requests.

Google reCAPTCHA

Used to protect your forms from spam and automated submissions. It is active only once you enter your reCAPTCHA site key and secret key in Alpha Forms > Settings. If those keys are empty, your site never contacts Google.

What is sent and when:

• While reCAPTCHA keys are saved, the plugin loads Google’s reCAPTCHA script (https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api.js) on your site’s front-end pages, so the widget is ready wherever a form appears. Google’s script runs in the visitor’s browser and, as part of its risk analysis, may collect device, browser and interaction information and set cookies. With reCAPTCHA v3 your site key is part of the script URL; with v2 it is sent when the checkbox widget is rendered. Remove the keys in the plugin settings to stop the script from loading.
• When a visitor submits such a form, your site sends your reCAPTCHA secret key, the one-time challenge token generated in the visitor’s browser, and the visitor’s IP address to https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify so Google can confirm the submission is not automated. The form’s field values are never sent to Google.
• When an administrator clicks “Verify Keys” on the plugin’s reCAPTCHA settings screen, the secret key is sent to the same endpoint to check that it is valid. No visitor data is included.

Mailchimp

Used to add people who submit your form to a Mailchimp audience. Active only when you enable the Mailchimp integration, save a Mailchimp API key, and add the Mailchimp action to a form.

What is sent and when:

• When you save your API key or open the plugin’s settings or the form’s integration controls, your API key is sent to https://{data-center}.api.mailchimp.com/3.0/ping and /3.0/lists to validate the key and retrieve your audience names.
• When a visitor submits a form with the integration enabled, the submitted email address is sent to /3.0/lists/{audience}/members, together with the first name, last name and phone number when you have mapped those fields.

Brevo

Used to add people who submit your form to a Brevo contact list. Active only when you enable the Brevo integration, save a Brevo API key, and add the Brevo action to a form.

What is sent and when:

• When you save your API key or open the plugin’s settings or the form’s integration controls, your API key is sent to https://api.brevo.com/v3/account and https://api.brevo.com/v3/contacts/lists to validate the key and retrieve your list names.
• When a visitor submits a form with the integration enabled, the submitted email address is sent to https://api.brevo.com/v3/contacts, together with the first name and last name when you have mapped those fields.

ActiveCampaign

Used to add people who submit your form to an ActiveCampaign list. Active only when you enable the ActiveCampaign integration, save your ActiveCampaign API URL and API key, and add the ActiveCampaign action to a form. Requests go to the account API URL you provide (for example https://youraccount.api-us1.com).

What is sent and when:

• When you save your credentials or open the plugin’s settings or the form’s integration controls, your API key is sent to the /api/3/accounts and /api/3/lists endpoints of your account URL to validate the credentials and retrieve your list names.
• When a visitor submits a form with the integration enabled, the submitted email address is sent to the /api/3/contact/sync endpoint, together with the first name, last name and phone number when you have mapped those fields. A follow-up request to /api/3/contactLists adds that contact to the list you selected.

Klaviyo

Used to subscribe people who submit your form to a Klaviyo list. Active only when you enable the Klaviyo integration, save a Klaviyo API key, and add the Klaviyo action to a form.

What is sent and when:

• When a visitor submits a form with the integration enabled, your API key and the submitted email address are sent to https://a.klaviyo.com/api/v2/list/{list-id}/subscribe.

Webhooks (destination chosen by you)

The plugin’s Webhook action sends form submissions to a URL that you enter yourself. There is no default destination and the plugin is not affiliated with whatever service receives the data.

What is sent and when: when a visitor submits a form that has the Webhook action enabled, the submitted form data is sent to the URL you configured, in the format you selected. Nothing is sent until you add the action and enter a URL.

Because you choose the destination, you are responsible for reviewing the terms of service and privacy policy of the service you point the webhook at, and for making sure you are allowed to send it the data your form collects.
