Why “Hikmah”?

The word hikmah appears in the Quran itself: “He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good.” (Quran 2:269). This plugin is designed to be that small daily good — a moment of reflection before a day of work.

Privacy

This plugin does not collect any personal data. Favourite reminders are stored as WordPress options keyed to each user’s ID and are removed entirely on uninstall.

The widget stylesheet loads the Amiri and Nunito font families from Google Fonts. If you operate under strict data-privacy requirements (e.g. GDPR), consider self-hosting these fonts and removing the @import line from assets/widget.css.

Installation

  1. Upload the hikmah-dashboard-reminders folder to /wp-content/plugins/
  2. Activate the plugin via Plugins Installed Plugins
  3. Visit your Dashboard — the widget appears automatically
  4. Optionally configure display mode via Settings Hikmah Reminders or the widget’s Configure link

FAQ

What does “Hikmah” mean?

Hikmah (حكمة) is the Arabic word for wisdom. It is mentioned in the Quran in relation to divine knowledge and sound judgement.

Does the daily reminder change at midnight?

Yes. The daily reminder rotates based on the day of the year (UTC midnight). With 95+ reminders the full cycle takes roughly three months before repeating.

Can different admin users have different favourites?

Yes. Each WordPress user has their own personal favourites list, stored separately.

How do I switch between Daily and Random mode?

Click Configure on the dashboard widget, or go to Settings Hikmah Reminders and select your preferred mode.

Will this slow down my admin?

No. The CSS and JS assets are loaded only on the dashboard page where the widget is shown, and both files are lightweight (under 15 KB combined).

Is this plugin translation-ready?

Yes. A .pot file is included in the languages/ folder. You can submit translations via translate.wordpress.org.
