Description

A block plugin that lets you include a map of any location to your website. Just enter address, coordinates or descriptive text and it will do the rest. You can fetch maps from Google Maps (API key required) or from OpenStreetMap (100% free).

This plugin connects to an API to obtain location information. It’s needed to display the map and other information related to the location selected by the user. It sends the user’s location every time the widget is loaded.

Installation

  1. Install plugin as usually from WordPress.org. You can also manually download it, unpack and upload the plugin directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  3. Add HotBlocks Maps block to your post/page by clicking on it.
  4. This block has additional parameters in the Block controls pane.

FAQ

What to do with plugin after installation?

Create or edit a post or page. Click Add Block button, look for HotBlocks Maps block and add it on the page.

How to add maps?

After adding the HotBlocks Maps to your page, in the module settings enter your location. You can use an postal address or descriptive text (i.e. “copacabana rio”). After that, click the Resolve Location button, and the map will be included.

Why do I need Google Maps API Key?

This is Google’s requirement. Please obtain your Google API Key from Google Maps website and enter it in Settings > HotBlocks Maps. Alternatively, you can use OpenStreetMap as maps provider.
