$protocol = ($_SERVER['HTTPS'] && strtolower($_SERVER['HTTPS']) != "off") ? "https" : "http";<\/code><\/p>\n

because in some cases $_SERVER[‘HTTPS’] is ‘Off’ – like in my case \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n
