{"id":7007787,"date":"2016-01-30T14:51:19","date_gmt":"2016-01-30T14:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/remove-words-from-the_excerpt_rss-with-php\/"},"modified":"2016-08-31T01:06:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-31T01:06:00","slug":"remove-words-from-the_excerpt_rss-with-php","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/remove-words-from-the_excerpt_rss-with-php\/","title":{"rendered":"Remove words from the_excerpt_rss() with php"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have followed this tutorial : http:\/\/www.wpbeginner.com\/wp-tutorials\/how-to-create-custom-rss-feeds-in-wordpress\/ to create a custom feed.<\/p>\n<p>The main objective is to create a new feed that will not have the two words &#8220;Photo Credits&#8221; that are present in each item&#8217;s excerpt of the regular WordPress RSS feed.<\/p>\n<p>So I thought in my custom feed template I could use something like:<\/p>\n<pre><code>&lt;?php\n    $excerptWithoutCredits=the_excerpt_rss();\n    $excerptWithoutCredits=str_replace(&#039;Photo Credits&#039;, &#039;&#039;, $excerptWithoutCredits);\n?&gt;<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>and then:<\/p>\n<pre><code>&lt;description&gt;&lt;![CDATA[&lt;?php echo $excerptWithoutCredits;  ?&gt;]]&gt;&lt;\/description&gt;<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>but this is not working, nothing is displayed.
