{"id":19024188,"date":"2026-09-19T15:22:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T15:22:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/calendar-next-button-does-not-work\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T15:22:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T15:22:52","slug":"calendar-next-button-does-not-work","status":"publish","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/calendar-next-button-does-not-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Calendar next button does not work"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Plugin version:<\/strong> 1.3.18<br \/><strong>WordPress version:<\/strong> 7.1.1<br \/><strong>Theme:<\/strong> Kadence<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Setup:<\/strong><br \/>The site&#8217;s front page (Settings \u2192 Reading \u2192 &#8220;A static page&#8221;) displays a Page that contains a <code>[calendar type=\"mini\"]<\/code> shortcode in a sidebar widget area.<br \/>The same page also contains a <code>[calendar type=\"upcoming\"]<\/code> shortcode elsewhere, which correctly lists upcoming events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Steps to reproduce:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Visit the front page (a static Page, not the blog index).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <code>[calendar type=\"mini\"]<\/code> widget, click the &#8220;next month&#8221; navigation link (URL becomes something like <code>?calendar_month=oct&amp;calendar_yr=2026<\/code><br \/>appended to the front page URL).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Expected result:<\/strong><br \/>The calendar should advance to show October, including the events already confirmed to exist that month (the same events display correctly via <code>[calendar type=\"upcoming\"]<\/code><br \/>on the same page).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Actual result:<\/strong><br \/>The entire main content area and sidebar are replaced by the theme&#8217;s generic &#8220;nothing found&#8221; search\/archive template<br \/>(header, main menu and footer remain intact \u2014 only the main query content changes). When logged in as an administrator, the page additionally<br \/>shows WordPress&#8217;s standard &#8220;Ready to publish your first post?&#8221; prompt \u2014 the message normally shown only on an empty blog posts index.<br \/>This strongly suggests the month-navigation request is somehow causing WordPress&#8217;s main query to resolve as the blog posts index instead of the static front page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The plugin&#8217;s WordPress.org listing states &#8220;Tested up to: 6.9.8&#8221; \u2014 this site runs WordPress 7.1.1, which is newer than the plugin&#8217;s stated compatibility range.<br \/>This may be relevant to the bug.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reproduced identically on two separate installs of the same site (staging and production), same plugin\/theme versions, same result.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Setting a dedicated &#8220;Posts page&#8221; under Settings \u2192 Reading (previously blank) did not resolve the issue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <code>[calendar type=\"upcoming\"]<\/code> shortcode on the same page is unaffected and correctly shows events for the following month.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No other plugin\/theme conflict identified so far (tested with all other plugins active as normal).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Happy to provide more detail (site URL, screenshots, or a temporary admin login) if useful for reproducing this. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-19024188","topic","type-topic","status-publish","hentry"],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic\/19024188","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topic\/19024188\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=19024188"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
